Volume 10, Number 7 February 2017
THIS MONTH’S MEETING: Fri 3rd
February MEET AND GREET: Denise & Gregg Johnson
Could the Meet and Greeters please be at the meeting room by 9.20am. If you are unable to fulfil your
allocated day, please let Robert know ASAP.
PRESIDENT’S PRATTLE
So starts another year for our Probus Club, many events are already being planned, Anna has
prepared a variety of options for our Monthly day trips and also this year we have two
exciting holiday trips planned, the first by train to Longreach and home by coach in May and
in November a holiday in Nelson Bay which will include an evening visit to the Christmas
Lights at the Hunter Valley Gardens. Joyce has already lined up several shows to be added to
our club calendar. Following a very successful year (including a great dinner on New Year’s
Eve) our ever-wise Margaret is arranging some new and exciting things for this year. As always, our
various interest groups will again be active and I urge everybody to join in with the plans that interest each
member. One monthly happening I personally find interesting is our “Travel Tales’ evening, so many
places around the world I would not otherwise have the opportunity to visit, also the chance to relive the
great times we have had on some of our holiday trips thanks to the photography and video expertise shown
by some of our members.
The Probus slogan of “FUN, FELLOWSHIP & FRENDSHIP” applies to all club members and a part of
that is by being an active member. In my mind this means being a member who participates in as many of
the organised events as is with-in their range of choice. Those who organise the various events spend
considerable time in the research and planning of such said events, whilst there are many members who do
participate regularly in a variety of events there appears to be some who only attend our regular monthly
meeting (as is required by our Club Constitution) without any further participation in club events.
Your committee will be recommending that our membership fees remain unchanged for the coming year,
however this needs to be ratified at the ASGM in March. Fees are due and payable by the 1st April as stated
in our Club Constitution.
At our next meeting, our “Returning Officer” will be collecting all Nomination Forms so that at our AGM
in March we will be able to select those members who will be managing the club for the coming year. I
urge everybody to consider who might be the “RIGHT” person to fill these positions.
Peter
Please note an invitation to the Trots from Liverpool Quota and a Nomination form for
Committee membership can be found at the end of this months Newsletter.
