What has been happening lately?

Major Renovations of Muzium Negara: A decision about the renovations is expected any day! MVs are waiting with bated breath as the consequence may be exile to JMM’s outer galaxies like the Textile Museum or Muzium DiRaja. Leng Wai Mun: We are very pleased to report that our MV secretary had a successful heart bypass operation and is now recuperating at home. What to do in an Emergency: In case of any emergency in the museum, please contact a Muzium Negara staff or call 999! MV Library: This will be closed for the month of February. From March, a Librarian will be on duty once a week on Tuesdays 9.30-11.30am. Sat 23/1/16: (1) Dennis de Witt’s talk on “The 375th Anniversary of the beginning of the Dutch Era” & (2) Antoni Mandemaker, Deputy Head of Mission, Head of Economic Department, Royal Netherlands Embassy – talk on what the Netherlands Embassy does & relations with Malaysia Dennis’ new talk presented interesting theories of intrigue & betrayals to a packed room. Thu 28/1/16: Asian Law Students Association visit 250 delegates from ALSA visited and tested the capabilities of MV to the limits! The conclusion of this is 160 visitors should be the maximum. Well done to the guides who volunteered!

Fri 29/1/16: MV book “A Malaysian Tapestry” is finally out! It will be on sale at the JMM Library soon. Karen will email an alert when the books are available.

Sat 30/1/16: Billy Woo’s talk on “The Selangor Wars” Billy’s talk was the Dummies Guide to the Selangor Wars. He has distilled a very complicated war and presented it in simple diagrams, charts and comics. The complexity remains in trying to remember the long names of most of the people involved in the war. All I remember is the Blue Team won!
