When did it all start?

Empire is a British film magazine currently published monthly by Bauer Consumer Media.

From the first issue in July 1989, the magazine was edited by Barry McIlheney and published byEmap. However in early

2008 Bauer purchased Emap Consumer Media.It has been the biggest selling film magazine in the United Kingdom

and is also published in the United States, Australia,Turkey, Russia and Portugal.

Empire even organizes an annual ’Empire Awards’ ceremony sponsored by Sony Ericsson and from 2009 sponsored

by Jameson which awards actors, directors and cinematographers on stage for global empire awards voted for

by readers of the magazine.

What keeps us reading?

As well as film news, previews and reviews, Empire has some other regular feature articles such as;

• The regular Top 10 feature lists of Empire's choice of the top ten examples of something film-related. For example, 10 Best Chase

Scenes or 10 Best Movie Gags in The Simpsons.• Celebrity Mastermind is another regular in which a celebrity is given

questions about the films they were in or they directed• The At Home section covers Blu-ray and DVD news and releases. • Movie Dungeon is a regular feature in the At Home section, in which

critic ’Kim Newman’ reviews the most obscure releases, mostly low budget horror movies.

When did it all start?

Premiere was an American and New York City-based film magazine published by Hachette Filipacchi Media

U.S. between the years 1987 and 2007. The original version of the magazine, Première, was

established in France in 1976 and is still being published there.

Premiere was released ten times a year, with issues dated February, March, April, May, June, July/August,

September, October, November and December/January.

It sold all over the United States,  Canada,  Australia,  Britain and France, among others.
