LIGHTHOUSE CD’S Beloved: Finding Happiness in Marriage

Dr. Timothy Gray presents an honest look at the blessings

and struggles of marriage. He connects the

Fall to daily marital struggles and explains

how, like Adam and Eve, spouses can end

up blaming instead of supporting each

other. Dr. Gray also explains how words

can heal and build up married life. Discover

how to find or renew happiness in your marriage with

Beloved.

LETTER FROM FR. LEO Dear Fr. Joe, Greetings to you with the Peace of Christ.

How is life and work? It is so exciting to have Fr. Rocky

and Damien from Relevant Radio in Rome. They came to

our University for Seminar and it was really a wonderful

experience. I lost my Dad Luke in the month of February

and was in Nigeria for his funeral, please help me to

remember him in your prayers. My warm regards to the

good people of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Best Regards, Fr. Leo.

POPE FRANCIS’

MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTIONS Universal Intention: That in every country of the world,

women may be honored and respected and that their

essential contribution to society may be highly esteemed.

Evangelization Intention: That families, communities, and

groups may pray the Holy Rosary for evangelization and

peace.

BISHOP RICKEN’S

MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTION That the oppressed and all those who struggle to find the

joy of Christ in their lives be comforted by strong

friendships and love of their family.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS Plant Sale!

The 7th annual plant sale was a success. Thank you to the

volunteers that waited patiently for customers to show up.

Special thanks to James Jacque who donated two pieces of

metal art which went very quickly. The total collected was

$247.50, however, some of the remaining inventory will be

sold to friends and relatives and the final number should

end up close to $300. Thanks to all of the customers. Enjoy

your perennials.

Tootsie Roll Drive!

Thank you to all who took part in this year’s drive,

especially Bill Noel, who ran the project in Dave Tlachac’s

absence. Also thanks to those who worked multiple shifts.

The total collected was $3,102.16, the second highest

amount in the past six years. Great job! Proceeds go to:

NEW Special Olympics, Aspiro, GB Diocese Dept of

Family Enrichment, and SOAR-Sybl Hopp School. The

weather was perfect for the fund raiser.

COMFORT THE AFFLICTED This month, we celebrate many important

liturgical Sundays in the Catholic Church: the

Ascension, Pentecost, the Most Holy Trinity,

and the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

All of these dates are meant to remind us that

God is always with us, and we are never alone.

Every person is afflicted from something

whether it is physical, mental or spiritual.

These afflictions can leave us feeling down, lonely and lost.

Imagine how lost the apostles felt immediately after the

death of Christ. Take a moment to reflect upon what they

must have been feeling- despair, sadness and fear. In the

midst of this turbulent time, Jesus returned to them many

times to reassure them, “Do not let your hearts be troubled

or afraid. You heard me tell you, ‘ I am going away and I

will come back to you.’ Over and over again Jesus affirmed

in word and in deed his great love for his people, a love so

deep that it changed the whole world.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be

no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, [for] the old

order has passed away.” - Revelation 21:4

Reflect on the Year of Mercy:

When you were growing up did you have a favorite blanket

or stuffed animal that you had to have in your arms before

falling asleep? We all have a place or item which speaks

“comfort” to us and reminds us that we are safe, loved and

secure. The greatest comfort to us as Christians is the love

of the Father. Wrapped like a child in His arms there is no

greater comfort than to know that we are unconditionally

loved and that no matter how difficult the trial in our lives,

that He will be right there beside us. Do you have a favorite

quote from Scripture or prayer that you reflect upon when

you are feeling down? When you feel burdened, think of

those words given to us from God as your own special

security blanket. Live the Year of Mercy: Take time once a

week to visit someone in the hospital or nursing home.

Pray the Year of Mercy:

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the

beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes

from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of

footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my

Lord. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I

looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at

many times along the path of my life, especially at the very

lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of

footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord

about it. “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,

You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during

the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there

was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why,

when I needed You the most, You would leave me.” He

whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never

leave you never, ever, during your trials and testing's.

When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I

carried you.” ~Mary Stevenson

HOME MISSION-OUR OWN NEEDS

COLLECTION You can still support this important work. The four major

beneficiaries are:

Catholic Communications Campaign-develops media

programming to promote Gospel values. Half of all

proceeds raised stay in our Diocese. It provides grants to

Catholic organizations to support televised Masses,

diocesan newspapers. Nationally the 2015 campaign

supported live streaming and social media campaigns of

Pope Francis U.S. visit.

Catholic Home Missions Appeal-There are over 80 Home

Missions dioceses in the United States. They struggle to

serve the unique needs of their communities. The Home

Missions Appeal helps to ease the struggle of these

dioceses and helps them form vibrant faith communities.

Black and Native American Missions-exist to help

diocesan communities to build the church and preach the

Gospel of Jesus among the Native American, African

American and Alaska Native people of God in the U.S.

These funds support pastoral ministry, education,

evangelization in dioceses where these communities exist.

In our Diocese, we annually receive a grant from this

collection to assist parishes in Neopit & Keshena in their

outreach and service to People of the First Nation

(Menominee Indian Tribe).

Catholic University of America-The Catholic University

of America is the national University of the Catholic

Church in the United States, located in Washington, D.C. It

provides an academically rigorous education guided by the

Catholic intellectual tradition to nearly 7,000 students every

year. One hundred percent of this collection is used for

financial aid. More than 4,000 students directly receive

scholarship aid from this collection, including many from

our diocese. Please Give Generously!
