Spiritual Insight

From Saint Josemaria Escrivá

Jesus Christus, perfectus, Deus, perfectus Homo—Jesus Christ, perfect God and perfect Man. And they fail in the practice of supernatural virtues, despite all the external paraphernalia of piety, because they do nothing to acquire human virtues.

OFFICE OF THE BISHOP 419 N.E. MADISON AVENUE

PEORIA, ILLINOIS 61603

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Our participation in the Peter’s Pence Collection gives us an opportunity to be a witness of charity to our brothers and sisters around the world. Gifts to this annual collection help the Holy Father support victims of war, natural disasters, and others most in need of assistance.

On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis encouraged each person to be a witness of charity. He said, “Let us be renewed by God’s mercy . . . and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation, and make justice and peace flourish.” Pope Francis has continued to remind us through his actions that we must serve our brothers and sisters in order to be true disciples of Christ.

Join the Holy Father and be a witness of charity throughout the world. You can participate through your donations, prayers, and outreach to spread the message of need. Please be generous in the Peter’s Pence Collection.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C.

BISHOP OF PEORIA Envelopes for this collection are in your June packet.

Please be generous.

SMA FATHERS’ FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATION JUNE 25TH

Wednesday, June 25th will be the 155 anniversary of the SMA Fathers’ Founder’s Day celebration. The Society of African Missions (SMA Fathers) which is an international missionary group with about 1,200 members coming from France, Holland, Ireland, England, Italy, Spain, Canada, USA, Poland, Indian, Philippines and 13 African Countries…celebrates 25

th June as the “dies mortalis” of the

Founder, Bishop de Marion Brésillac. I invite all parishioners to join Frs. Jules, Michael, myself and the hundreds of SMA Fathers all over the world in praying for our priests and the missions all over the world. I encourage every parishioner to say one Our Father…; one Hail Mary… and one Glory Be to the Father…for those of our missionaries who are working in difficult and dangerous missions in Africa—Northern Nigeria, Central African Republic, Kenya, Niger and Egypt.

Thanks, Fr. Tony Fevlo, SMA

Pastor
