ARTS EDUCATION, NETWORKING AND
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Current Charter School Arts Program Issues
Most charter schools offer music, visual arts and/or arts integration classes. Unfortunately most of the charter school Arts programs do not reach their full potential.
Possible reasons for unsuccessful arts programs:
No networking in the Arts among schools No professional development or training for the Arts Most principals do not have an Arts background to
appropriately support a successful Arts/Arts Integration program
No regional leadership to support Arts programs No consistency in Arts curriculum and programs
MOSAICA

How Do Students Benefit
From The Arts?
1.
Students who participate in arts programs are at least three times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, elected to class office within their schools, participate in a math and science fair, win an award for school attendance and win an award for writing an essay or poem.
Students through arts programs performed better in literacy and critical thinking skills - including thorough description, hypothesizing and reasoning.
Studies show that students of the arts in all disciplines outperformed their non-arts peers on the SAT.
Numerous studies affirm that students who receive music education in school improve their SAT and ACT scores in math, foreign language and creative writing.
Teach learners to be more tolerant and open.
Allow learners to express themselves creatively.
.
. Promote individuality, bolster self-confidence, and improve overall academic performance.
Help all students develop more appreciation and understanding of the people and world around them
Help students develop a sense of craftsmanship, quality task performance, goal-setting, communication skills, and teamwork —skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond
Strengthens student problem-solving and critical thinking skills, adding to overall academic achievement and school success.
Help students develop a positive work ethic and pride in a job well done.
