FROM LAKAN…
Thank You. A big “Thank You” to the Mis-
sions Team for a great UPG (Unreached Peo-
ple Groups) Missions Conference this past
weekend. Marissa Eugenio, our guest mis-
sionary, loved being here, loved our barbeque
brisket and refried beans and Mexican food,
but most of all, she loved the heart that our
church has for the work to reach the UPGs in
southern Philippines.
One of the results of our UPG Missions Con-
ference is First Baptist Church Mertzon con-
sidering partnering with one of the new
church planting teams.

From Lakan...
We, as a church, have a spe-cial role we can play in the life of the college students that are part of this church by investing in them on a personal level during their time here. One way you can do this is through adopting one or more of our students this se-mester. Adopting a student would mean you would be willing to do the following: At least once a month
feed your student (either in your home or take them out with you/your family)
Perhaps opening up your home for them to do laundry
Involving them in family activities (movies, game nights, etc.)
Inviting them to sit with you on Sunday mornings
Doing something special for them around testing times
Check up on them during the week with a call, text or email.
In general, the idea is to be willing to be involved in their lives over the course of this semester. If you are willing, or you have questions, please call me at 325-227-1778.
Ryan Connel
Marissa, Kim and I
did a presentation for
them Sunday night.
FBC Mertzon also
voted Sunday to allo-
cate all the money
needed to build a
home for the Cawa-
Cawa kids in Zambo-
anga City. We thank
our Lord for raising
them up for this part-
nership work.
Local Outreach. We
will be providing a
free lunch during the
San Angelo Annual
Disc Golf Tournament
March 10 at the lake.
This is a wonderful
opportunity for us to
interact with a group
of people who are to-
tally unchurched.
We need volunteers
who will help serve
and also just visit
with people. Sign up
in the foyer.
Jack Morris. Jack
went home to be with
the Lord last night
(Feb. 20). Jack was
a blessing to every-
one who knew him
and encountered
him. The last few
times I saw him, he
told me that he was
ready to see the
Lord. Funeral service
is this Friday, Feb.
24, at 2 PM, at the
Johnson Funeral
Home Chapel. Come
celebrate his life.
Thank you. Thank
you to Ernie Bringle
for the wonderful,
easy-to-read signs
around the church.
Thanks, Ernie!

We need YOUR help in our
college ministries.
2011 Contribution Receipts
Praise the Lord! We finally have 2011 Contribution Receipts! I so appreciate your patience during this stressful time of computer woes!
The receipts are in the foyer, labeled by last name.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at the church office.
* I will be happy to email you a copy of your contributions also. Cindy Hickey
$11000.00 Given to Date: $6780.00
On the last Sunday of each month we receive the Lord’s sup-per. On that Sunday we will also ask for donations to our Agape Ministries. These ministries give us the opportunity to help those in need.
With your help, we can provide food boxes as well as supply-ing needed clothing, and help in other areas.
Please bring canned and/or nonperishable items with you as you come to wor-ship with us Sunday, February 26th. There will be a box in the foyer where you may place your items.
You may also give a special offering to these ministries by placing it in the offer-ing plate marked Agape.
Of course you are welcome to bring canned goods/non-perishables by the church office anytime!
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
