    Mercyhurs t Cance r Researchstudents are scheduled to attend theAnnual Eastern Colleges Science Con-ference held on the campus of SUNY atFredonia on April 18 until April 20.At the conference, seniors CindyWhite and Ron Verrilla will presentpapers on the results of the ir two-termcancer research expe riments^ ^5 White's paper is "The Anticancer In-fluence? on a Cobalt Complex onEhrlich Ascites Tumor" and Verrilla'spaper is entitled, "The Inhibiting Effectof Cobalt Acetate and Sodium Ascor-bate on the Mitotic Activity of AscitesTumors.*" \White explained that the purpose oftheir experiments was to increase thesurvival rate of mice with cancer. Ac-cording to her, they had a 73 percentsurvival rate among the laboratoryanimals. tI White .adds that she and Verrillaworked on their experiments togetherbecause "it's easier with two peoplehandling the m ice." 2 f >She ! is " disappointed that CandyHoover won't be attending ithe con-ference.     14th in Zurn Recital Hall, and areception followed.$ During the ceremony, 46charter members and threehonorary members were in-ducted into the honor society.To be recognized! as amember, students had to havecompleted 60credits and earn-ed a 3.2 academic average.The honorary members areDr. William P. Garvey, presi-dent of Mercyhurst, J. RobertBaldwin, president of BaldwinBros. Inc. and trustee, and Dr.A. Jean Lavin, director of theBusiness Department. *?The honorary members wereinstalled fontheir distinguish-ed, business and leadershipabilities.*-

    Professor A. J. Foranoce,president ? of the NationalHonor Soc iety, traveled to Eriefrom Old Westburg, New York,to - give an ^addressTat theceremony.Professor Foranoce is theassociate director of the NewYork j Institute Center forBusiness and Economics atthe college's Metro Center inManhattan. He has been presi-dent of Delta Mu Delta for twoyears and a member for thir-teen years, iThese past tw o years he hasbeen actively involved inchapter installation. He hasseen the honor society growfrom 36 chapters to 117.i Applications for chapters tobe installed at colleges" aremade to Delta Mu Delta, but onthe average two out of ten ap-plications are approved. Afterthorough evaluation, Mer-cyhurst was accepted as achapter college.Dr. Lavin will be the group'sadvisor.
