Here we are in the month of May! I have always enjoyed this month. The weather is becoming nicer (well sort of), patio furniture is being placed on patios, grills are being prepped…but now I have yet another reason why I enjoy the month of May…I will be celebrating my 3rd year as Director on May 31st. And…as I’ve mentioned previously and numerous times, I STILL LOVE IT! I thank you all for your support – participating in our daily lunch program, various exercise classes, movie day, bingo, presentations, and of course, our fun party/holiday celebrations. You all make it so enjoyable for me. I look forward to many more years (God willing), being here.

Our anniversary luncheon at Bellissimo’s Restaurant in Montvale will be May 7th at 12:00. We are excited to celebrate with wonderful food and wine. Don’t miss out, we are still taking reservations. We began collecting for our June trip to the Sands, Bethlehem, our favorite gambling and shopping venue. This time, the voucher will be $25.00 for slot play. Also, the group is planning a trip in September to Myrtle Beach. This trip is 7 days, 6 nights all inclusive (hotel, meals, shows, sightseeing and gratuities) trip. The price per person is $749 for double occupancy. We need 35 people to pull this off and a deposit of $100 will let us know you are really interested. Please make checks out to Diann Agostini as soon as possible if you want to go. Looking forward to seeing everyone for the May 1st meeting.
Sunrise Assisted Living of Cresskill will be joining us and
offering a lecture on “The Catskills”. Come and listen to
some interesting history on Tuesday – May 14th @ 10:30 AM.
Refreshments will be provided.
WHAT A TREAT! – When we had the movie marathon of “Mama Mia” on March 27th,
The Greek Village of Northvale, provided us
with platters of the infamous “Spanakopita”
at NO CHARGE! Needless to say, we were very grateful for their
generosity; not to mention how DELICIOUS it was. Thank you again,
Greek Village, for being so thoughtful. For more delicious items,
please visit The Greek Village at: 254 Livingston Street – Northvale
(201) 750-8570.
I HAVE AN OFFER! At times, 911 is called from The Center when needed. When
respondants arrive, I do my best in providing them with as much
information as I can. I would like to make an offer…if you would
like, please stop in to see me and provide me with a list of
medications you take, an emergency contact, hospital
preference, allergies, etc. I will type this for you and you can keep
it in your wallet/purse. I think this would be very helpful; not only in
an emergency situation, but you can use this listing when at doctor
appointments, etc. Of course, any information you provide me will
be kept confidential! Feel free to come anytime – Mon-Fri – 9:00
am 3:00 pm – I will be more than happy to do it for you

EVENTS / PRESENTATIONS / LUNCHEONS / ETC. As you know, I try and offer as many forms of entertainment, events, presentations, etc. here at The Center. Whether it is a ‘sponsored’ event/luncheon or a fee, a sign-up sheet is always included. This helps in planning for food, drink, etc.; not to mention the time for speakers or entertainers who are scheduled to participate. Unfortunately, there are instances where many are signed up to attend these functions and then there are “no shows” or…”no calls” made to say they are unable to attend. Planning these events whether it is being sponsored or a fee, costs time and money. The last event was a guest speaker, Nutritionist from Shop-Rite, with a luncheon sponsored by The Northvale Alliance Group on April 15th . A total of 37 people ‘originally’ signed up. On the day of, ONLY 22 were in attendance. Naturally, the lunch was ordered, and paid for, for a total of 37. I realize that certain situations may arise but perhaps in the future, contacting The Center and letting us know you are unable to attend would be greatly appreciated. As always, I
thank you for your understanding and continued support. Pam
Wishing All of You a Happy Memorial Day!

On April 5th, myself and a few members,
‘galloped’ to the Rockleigh Equestrian
Centre for a very fun and exciting
afternoon. Owner, Peter Walsh, opened
up his ‘stables’ to us and shared information about horses –
for example, grooming, maintenance, etc. After this, Peter
also provided us with a complimentary luncheon. It was a
wonderful day and experience that he shared with us.
Thank you again, Peter, for all that you did for us. We are
very grateful and appreciative!
“ONE FINE DAY”…(afternoon rather)…. Over 80 people attended the Carole King Tribute Concert performed by husband and wife, Gerard & Diane Barros on April 10th here at The Center. All in attendance enjoyed the great sounds and songs of the legendary Carole King. Thank you once again to the Northvale Public Library and Director, Jennifer Kelemen for sponsoring this event. It was a fun-filled afternoon!
***VAN USAGE UPDATE*** At times, when van appointments are made and our driver arrives
at his destination, the passenger is NOT there only to find out that
other arrangements were made and The Center was not notified.
When an appointment needs to be canceled, YOU MUST CALL THE
CENTER OR YOU WILL STILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT. I thank
you in advance for your cooperation. Pam
The Center will be CLOSED
on Tuesday – June 4th due
to the Primary Election.
A LITTLE HUMOR…
Poor Shirley was in her sixties and had never been married. “The
only man who considers me a ‘ten’ is the shoe salesman,” she moaned.
The old girl, never married, was asked which qualites in a man she liked best…brains, money or appearance. She thought a moment, then replied, “Appearance…and the sooner the better.”
George was telling his buddy, Eddie, about a recent diagnosis of his high blood pressure. “They told me to quit eating red meat,” he said. “Well, did you quit?” “Sure. You think I’m a dummy? I haven’t had a drop of ketchup on my hamburgers since!”
Consider the young soldier who wrote home to his grandmother that he had grown another foot. So she knitted him a third sock!
Remember…
“laughter is the best medicine”
