The Manager Magazine Issue No. 3 , JUNE 2012

TRANSCRIPT

  • ts been worth the wait, and here we are.

I welcome our readers to this third edition of The Manager. We dedicate this edition to the former Dean of UDBS, Dr. Marcellina Chijoriga as a gesture of appreciation for a commendable job that she has performed during her tenure as the leader of one of the leading business schools in Africa, and to the new Dean, Dr. Ulingeta Mbamba for his appointment.

This magazine is an interface among over 5,000 graduates of the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS), the former Faculty of Commerce and Management (FCM) and the University of Dar es Salaam. We also serve professional bodies, academic institutions, the Government, NGOs, corporate organizations and individuals who aspire and are hungry for information and knowledge that empowers.

Through this magazine, UDBS Alumni Association wants to create a forum for the exchange and expression of views, opinions and a formidable voice to advocate those views and opinions, while facilitating networking of the alumni with a view to ensuring that their contribution to the economy is distinguishable. We expect to facilitate debates within the context of the countrys economy and beyond.

It also aims to give advice and share practical experiences with the University of Dar es Salaam Business School academicians with a view to enhance the teaching qualities and standards, and to advise the UDBS on matters relating to curriculum, admissions, course contents, placements, post-graduate continuing management education programmes and other related services.

Our Association organizes several different kinds of events, all of which are aimed at fulfilling its mission, which is to be the leading business development catalyst that impacts on economy, social and political dynamics at the individual level and for our community.

We organize social outings, campus activities, regional and national events for alumni members, which include seminars, workshops and symposia with a view to disseminating knowledge and share the alumnis experiences on matters relating to business establishments and management at various levels. We intend to create a non-lasting bond between the UDBS and its students and staff through networking.

I, therefore, encourage all graduates of the UDBS and the former FCM who have not yet registered to subscribe through [email protected] in order to receive free copies of The Manager, to receive important updates, and invitations and information about events organized by our organization. With our value of giving detail-by-detail focus on content, we wish you great empowering reading.

    I also

Karibu sana.Ephraim Balozi Mafuru, Vice Chairman.
