The Make Space Eco-Friendly Sketchbooks

Technique one: Folded Sketchbooks

Materials • 5sheetsofoldA4paper• Arubberband• Posterpaint,feltpensorcolouringpencils

1. Cut the A4 paper longways into 3 strips (70 x 297mm.)

2. Choose 1 strip for the book cover and decorate it with a pattern or picture.

3. Gather the strips together with the cover on top. Fold in half and secure in the folded middle with a rubber band to create an instant book!

4. Now you know how to make this book, you can experiment with any size and any amount of page. You can also use a variety of paper or recycled card for the cover.

Technique two: Tied Sketchbooks

Materials • 5+sheetsofA4paper-itdoesn’tmatterifthesehavebeenprintedonifonlyononesidee.g.oldletters

• 2piecesofthincardorcartridgepapercutto155mmx110mm(oldcerealorpizzapacksworkwell!)

• 300mmlengthpieceofribbon,stringorwool• Aholepunch• Aruler• Posterpaint,inkorfeltpenstodecoratecover

1. Mark the middle of the long side of the two covers and use the hole punch to make holes. Decorate the covers.

2. Cut all the A4 paper in half widthways to make A5 and fold all these A5 sheets in half.

If your sheets have been printed on one side, ensure that the printed side is on the inside of the fold.

3. On the OPEN edge of the folded pages, mark the middle and use the hole punch to make holes.

4. Thread the ribbon through the holes on the back cover, the through the folded pages and final y the front cover. Tie the ribbon securely.
