An Act further to amend the Maharashtra Co-operative SocietiesAct, 1960.

WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the MaharashtraCo-operative Societies Act, 1960, for the purposes hereinafter appearing ;it is hereby enacted in the Sixty-sixth Year of the Republic of India asfollows :—

1. This Act may be called the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies(Amendment) Act, 2015.

2. After section 73CB of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act,1960, the following section shall be inserted, namely :—

“ 73CC. Where due to scarcity, drought, flood, fire or any othernatural calamity or rainy season or any election programme, of theState Legislative Assembly or Council or House of the People ora local authority, coinciding with the election programme of anysociety or class of societies, in the opinion of the State Government,it is not in the public interest to hold elections to any society orclass of societies, the State Government may, notwithstanding anythingcontained in this Act or the rules, or bye-laws made thereunder,or any other law for the time being in force, for reasons to berecorded in writing, by general or special order, postpone the electionof any society or class of societies, for a period not exceeding sixmonths at a time, which period may further be extended so, however,that, the total period shall not exceed one year in the aggregate.”.
