THE third Malaysia Oil & Gas Services Exhibition and Conference, held on 28-30 September 2016 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre,

provided a crucial platform in encouraging greater collaboration in the oil and gas industry as well as promoting development of the local service sector.

MOGSEC has always played an important role in showcasing and developing the capabilities of local players in the oil and gas services sector, creating a much-needed avenue for industry members to address key issues facing the industry today.

Organised by the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC) and Malaysian Exhibition Services (MES) Sdn Bhd, the event was officiated by Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS. “Oil and gas remains a huge and indispensable part of our economy, and I believe that MOGSEC 2016 is a crucial gathering of stakeholders who can discuss, debate and set the tone for future developments of the industry,” Datuk Wan Zulkiflee told participants at the opening.

Despite immense challenges, the show received overwhelming support from the oil and gas industry, including Malaysian oil giant PETRONAS, top industry players such as SapuraKencana Petroleum, Muhibbah Engineering, Technip and Satumarin. There were over 300 exhibiting companies, 5,992 trade visitors and the event generated a whopping RM358million in potential sales through the MATRADE International Sourcing Programme (INSP).

“MOGSEC serves as a vital platform to gather like-minded participants and encourages greater engagement between members and industry experts, initiating valuable discourse on complex issues and challenges faced by the industry on a national and international level,” said Sharifah Zaida Nurlisha Syed Ibrahim, president of MOGSC, in her opening speech. “It also provides a platform to discuss common goals, focussing particularly on the services sector of the oil and gas industry in line with MOGSC’s goals.”

A successful feature at MOGSEC 2016 was the Innovation Centre Technical Talks where professionals and major players of the oil and gas industry held talks during the exhibition and showcased technical seminars from top oil and gas companies. Bacho Pilong, Head of Production & Operations Management at PETRONAS, presented PETRONAS’ Coral 2.0 which generated a lot of interest. Other technical talks included topics that master current opportunities, revolutionary strategies and procedures, emerging trends as well as critical issues faced by the industry today.

The exclusive event will be held again on 25-27 September 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. Due to its excellent business framework and resounding success, MOGSEC will continue to champion the local oil and gas service providers and return in many years to come. ▪
