PRINCIPAL’S REPORT—WEEK 5 Congratulations to Mrs Jodie Ridley who has been
appointed through the DEC Merit Selection process to the
vacant Assistant Principal position at Armidale City Public
School. This means Mrs Ridley will continue as the
Assistant Principal responsible for Stage 2 and that Miss
Perris will continue as the teacher on 3/4RT for the
remainder of 2014. Mrs Kelly returns from long service
leave this week and we thank, Mr Bugden for his
tremendous work with 5/6K while Mrs Kelly was away.
We had ‘A Little Night Music’ last Wednesday evening in
the school hall and the talent on show was wonderful. The
students who performed presented a wide variety of music
to demonstrate their talents. Well done, to all students
involved, thank you, to Mrs MacGregor for organising the
evening and thank you, parents for your support.
Our P&C meeting for August was also held last Wednesday
evening and a number of items were discussed at the
meeting ranging from school projects the P&C is going to
support, to the next meal deal to school canteen and its
viability. I encourage all community members to come along
to the next meeting in September and join in with this hard
working group.
We are currently working on developing our school plan for
2015 – 2017. The new approach to school planning brings
together a number of reforms to give NSW public schools
greater authority to meet the needs of their communities,
to improve the quality of teaching in schools and to improve
outcomes for all students. It is highly strategic, focussing
on 3 key areas for improvement determined by the school in
consultation with its community, to ensure a profound
difference to the ongoing growth and development of the
school. Each strategic direction will articulate the school’s
approach and identify the key improvement measures using
the new 5P methodology – Purpose, People, Processes,
Practices and Products. The product will be an individual
school plan, contextually driven to support the achievement
of the key improvement measures to address the needs of
students at the local level. In collaboration with our school
parent body and community we want to create a shared
vision for Armidale City Public School. Any parent who
wishes to have input, please email me to register your
interest.
An official Armidale City Public School Facebook page has
been set up and this page will be kept up to date with whole
school events on a regular basis. This is another way for
families to see what is going on at the school. The address
is https://www.facebook.com/armidalecitypublicschool . If
you would like to ask any questions about this page please
contact the office.
Our Stage 3 leadership team will today attend the New
England Schools Remember event in Armidale. This is an
important event for Armidale and I thank Mrs Paterson
and Mrs MacGregor for organising our attendance.
During Term 3 all classes will be taking part in child
protection lessons as part of the PDHPE curriculum for
NSW DEC. If any parent would like to discuss the content
of these lessons please contact your child’s teacher.
I would like to remind all parents who drop their children
off each day and pick them up to reinforce safe behaviour
when crossing roads – particularly when getting out of a car
and crossing the road. We have a high volume of cars and
buses around our school in the morning and afternoon and it
is important students remember all road safety rules. I
would also like to remind parents that the school car park
should not be used to drop off, or collect children.
Good luck, to our basketball and touch football teams who
will play in the next round of the PSSA knockout this week.
The boys’ basketball team is travelling to Port Macquarie to
play Tacking Point Public School and the boys’ touch football
team will play against Newling Public School. Thank you, to
Mrs Docksey, Mr Widders and Mrs Schultz for coaching
and organising these teams.
Well done, to all students on your efforts throughout the
last week – your outstanding work makes me proud to be
Principal of such a great school. Please feel free to email
me on the address below if you wish to raise any points of
interest, thank you, for the ongoing support of parents and
community.

MANGARCHOT’S DAY THANK YOU to all of the ACPS Community!!!!
Through the mufti day, the competitions, especially the
“shoot outs”, ticket sales and some donations, we were able
to contribute a total of $979:50 towards Mangarchot’s
expenses with the NSW PSSA team. What a great effort
from a very generous school community.
Competition winners:
Story: Mia Brotherson, Chiyo Brown, Lauren Williams
Picture: Danika Smith, Nathan Smith, Lilly Green,
April Boyd
Shootout: Laura Grant, Keanen Brown, Lilly Green,

Basketball game: very close but the students finished with a
great long shot from Mangarchot to avenge their loss last
year.
Book Week
The annual Book Character Parade will be held on
Wednesday 20 August. This very popular annual event will
be held in the hall beginning at 11:45am. Children should
