For your kingdom, overflowing with power and glory for all of eternity, Amen. Reflection: The Lord's Prayer to me is way to connect to God. It shows us what we need to being doing. It tells us to forgive and follow in his footsteps. Even though God's way is not the easiest way it is the right way. We need to do all in our power to live his way. We may trip and we may fall the Lord's Prayer is a reassurance that he will be there to pick us up. Verse: For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Thy peace at heart will come… not in our earthly bodies, but our true from, with this. His path will take place on temporary, as it is destined to in the eternal. Give us today, our dose of you. For we ask forgiveness for our wrong doings. For we are to forgive the other souls. Lead us may form the devil’s trap, for we are sick sheep, and you are our shepherd. For holy is your land, prodigious is your reign, and miraculous is your glory. Forever it is to remain. Amen. Reflection: The Lord’s Prayer is more than just an adjuration, it is a lifeline and a commandment. For God is not present in physical form on a daily basis, we can become forgetful and hopeless. With the prayer, we can talk to God in the way he left us. Through my confirmation journey I have come upon many stumbles, and the Lord’s Prayer has been a guide to me upon how to live righteously. Faith Lutheran Church Council Minutes Partnering together with God through scripture, sacraments, and service.

Through loving grace the members of Faith Lutheran value respect, integrity, collaboration, and the openness to change. Meeting held on 04/20/2017 at 5 PM at 5M

Members Present: Todd Taylor, Lisa Younghans, Cheryl Avery, Sue Perri, Jean Martin, John Hickey, Jessica King, Brian Holloman, Joey Gibson Todd Taylor opened the meeting with prayer. Minutes from 03/16/2017 were approved. Finance Report: IRS Update – The IRS send four checks totaling $9,197 as refunds due to the forgiveness of penalties and late charges. The Finance Committee recommended depositing it into the Elkhart County Community Foundation (ECCF) fund since that is where the payroll tax payments came from originally. If we receive future refunds, those will also be deposited to the ECCF fund. The Finance Committee also recommended withdrawing $12,000 from this same fund to cover expenses for March. The Council approved the Finance Committee’s recommendations. A letter addressed to First English was received which showed an overpayment of approximately $2,618.16 as well as discrepancies in 2014 on W2 forms and 941 forms. In 2014 First English employees’ full year salaries were listed on one W2 form when they should have been on two forms; one from First English and one from Faith due to the merging of the two churches into one. Pastor John is working with the IRS contact person to correct this error. While details are still being worked out, it appears we may receive a refund of this overpayment. Portico – It was found that the pastors’ payments were made, but not withheld from Pastor Jes in the amount of $702.15. Also, Pastor John overpaid $84.00. The Finance Committee determined it would be more costly in time, manpower, and dollars to correct the situation. The withdrawals have been corrected and going forward are in place. The Council approved the Finance Committee’s recommendation. Council Conversations: 1. Roles & Responsibilities: Todd Taylor will send a draft in a few days to Council for review and input. He is the lead with assistance

from Lisa Younghans, Bodie and Julie Stegelmann, John Place, and Pastor Jes. 2. Education & Sunday School: Lisa Younghans and Pastor Jes continue to work with the Christian Ed Committee; see the minutes

from their meeting dated 4/5/17 which are included with these Council minutes. Estimated roll out is September 1. 3. Stewardship and Pledge Drive: Pastor John and Cheryl Avery are working with Stewardship Committee members Libby Morrical

and Bob Doyles. The drive will take place April 30, May, 7, 14, and 21. A program with materials has been purchased and is being adapted to fit into our planning schedule.

4. Round Table Review: A few congregation members suggested Council explore the possibility of a new building as they thought a new building would foster a sense of togetherness as a congregation, that a new building would bring us all together under one roof and that would take care of the majority of the problems as they see it. The Council will not pursue this idea. It is financially unrealistic. Selling two churches would be extremely difficult in the current climate for church real estate. A new building and land would most likely be in the $2.5-$3.5 million range. Our Mission Statement says “partnering together”. We are one church with two locations and we need to fully utilize both in the best ways possible

5. Worship Times: Council is working on a worship structure for the summer and fall. Many issues are being taken into consideration; issues that important to everyone, but also invites people to make changes, choices, and sacrifices for the sake of the congregation.

6. In looking to using our facilities to the fullest: Kristin Yoder of MCD Goldenrod, an agency that works with disabled adult clients, needs a place to meet with clients once a month, dates and times will vary. The Council approved allowing Kristin and MCD Goldenrod to use the GR location for these client meetings.

Next Steps: Pledge Drive & Sunday School Pastors’ Reports: • Pastor John presided at the memorial service for Lowell Faulk on March 18, the funeral for Mary Louise Laser on March 23, and the

funeral for Dom Prudente in New York on April 1. • Pastor Jes presided at the baptism of Kyle Meloche on March 19 and

will preside at the confirmation of Dylan Yoder and Ethan Yoder on May 7 at the 10:30 am service. With joy, the Council approved the confirmation of Dylan and Ethan.
