For Christmas I got the devotional book Jesus Calling written by Sarah Young. My sister gave it to me, knowing that it was on my list! Several friends have the book and often commented last year that God would give them just the right words at just the right time through her writing. Es-sentially she has taken the scriptures and written them from Jesus’ point of view, so that your perspective is that of Jesus speaking to you. Then she includes the Bible verses for further reflection. Each day, I go back to the reading for January 4th and read it again. It strikes a cord within me as I desire to grow closer to Christ this year. I pray that it is an encour-agement to you as well. Imagine Jesus calling to you with the following words from Sarah Young’s book... I want you to learn a new habit. Try saying “I trust You, Jesus” in re-sponse to whatever happens to you. If there is time, think about who I AM in all My Power and Glory; ponder also the depth and breadth of My Love for you. This simple practice will help you see Me in every situation, acknowledging My sovereign control over the uni-verse. When you view events from this perspective--through the Light of My universal Presence--fear loses its grip on you. Adverse circumstances become growth op-portunities when you affirm your trust in Me no matter what. You receive blessings gratefully, realiz-ing they flow directly from My hand of grace. Your continual as-sertion of trusting Me will strengthen our relationship and keep you close to Me.

Come, Let Us Worship
I have seen you in the sanctuary and behold your power and glory.
~Psalm 63:2
See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and his arm rules for him.
See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.
He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
~Isaiah 40:10-11
(Continued from page 1) Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed
in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far
side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
~Psalm 139:7-10
May we learn to say “I trust You, Jesus” in re-sponse to whatever happens in 2012. Joy,

As you know, Adult Disci-
pleship has been holding
the Sunday Sermon Small Sunday Sermon Small Sunday Sermon Small Sunday Sermon Small
GroupGroupGroupGroup at 10:30 a.m. after
worship. This small group
has allowed those who have
attended to dive deeper
into the key points of the
sermon and discuss their
meaning and application.
We are putting together a
schedule of facilitators for
the upcoming months. The
facilitator will distribute
provided handouts with an
overview and key points
highlighted. Questions are
included to help the group
think about the points in the sermon and
make a plan for any action steps.
No experience or preparation is
needed. So, what could be eas-
ier!?! Please let Sue Minarchi at

Sunday Blast Sunday Blast Sunday Blast Sunday Blast returns with a new curriculum that we are excited to implement. Group’s “Buzz” curriculum is both child and teacher friendly. The age-appropriate lessons are bibli-cally solid, learner-based, and engaging. Children will come to know, love, and follow Jesus and form a lasting relation-ship with GOD. Each week your child will come home with a take-home sheet, high-lighting the week’s story and theme. Please contact Holli with any questions.
I am pleased to announce that so many chil-dren have expressed an interest in being an acolyte this year, that we will be having an aco-lyte help with worship every Sunday. A big thank you to Aidan, Connor, Emma, Riley, Jamie, Ky-lie, Josh, Meghan, Sarah-Kate, Cali, and Madison for their willingness to serve!

Finance Ministry Team Update
Income & ExpensesIncome & ExpensesIncome & ExpensesIncome & Expenses
Through year end December 2011 expenses in-curred ($264,970) have been greater than in-come received ($216,572). We have withdrawn $44,700 from the UPC fund to cover budgeted expenses.
The 2012 expense budget is $290,814. To sup-port the expense budget, monthly income re-ceived should be approximately $24,200. The Finance Ministry Team will continue to monitor and report income and expenses on a monthly basis.
Per Capita SharePer Capita SharePer Capita SharePer Capita Share
We would like to thank everyone who has turned in their per capita share. The amount we will pay to Presbytery for 2012 is $5,356. If you haven’t submitted your per capita offering, please consider submitting it promptly.
So, what is Per Capita? It is a charge of $29.00 assessed to UPC from Donegal Presbytery for each and every member in our church. The Presbytery uses these funds for its operation and to provide various operational and ministe-rial resources to the churches in the Presby-tery. Each church is responsible for paying Per Capita to the Presbytery for each member re-ported to be on its rolls.
Therefore, if your family has four church mem-bers (adults and con-firmed chil-dren), your Per Capita amount is $29.00 x 4 = $116.00.
KFB Continues to Serve and You Can Help
Thanks to everyone who supported the Kennett Area Food Bank during the holiday season.
The need for food continues with many families
in our community and you can help!
Food items always in demand are: peanut but-ter, tuna fish, spaghetti and sauce, canned vege-tables and canned fruit. Bring a can or two on Sunday and place in the narthex to help those in need!
What’s It All About?
Gathering in Orlando, FL in January.
Come and hear the panel discussion and ask questions so you too can know what it’s all about.
There will be a repeat discussion on Thursday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m.
On Sunday, February 5, imme-diately following Worship in the Sanctuary Pastor Jen, Shane Howat and Joe Scott will share with all members and friends of UPC what they learned at the Fellowship of Presbyterians
