Reports
Budget:
Neville distributed the Shared Technology Services budget for 10/15 thru 9/16. Payroll/Personnel
Services had a slight overage due to an ADP rate increase from overtime and training.
TLN Board Meeting:
Morse reported there was discussion of the possibility of Brandon Twp. Library leaving SAS. The TLN
Board officers will be the same for the next year. The Board approved the Gleaners Food for Fines
program and were updated on the RFP for the shared system.
Symphony Update:
No update.
Technology Services Update:
No report.
Unfinished Business
A. Update on catalog enhancements – Enterprise, E-
Resource Central, Odilo, Social Library, online user registration, group cards, etc. – A. Ne
ville
A few libraries are interested in the Group Cards but there has not been any response about the
cards.
B. MeLCat/NCIP update A. Neville
Neville reported that libraries may not revisit their decision to be AV or no AV MelCat lenders
until the migration to a new system has been completed.
C. Brandon Township Public Library update P. McCann
McCann asked if there was anything we can do at this point. Pletz reported we can only wait for
an official notice of intent to leave SAS. A letter was sent to Brandon Library giving them a
timeline for leaving.
D. ILS-RFP Committee report P. McCann/A. Rosen/C. Morse
Morse reported the RFP was released 9/19. 10/3 was the deadline for notice of intent to bid and 5
vendors responded. 11/1 was the deadline for proposals. The RFP committee will meet on
November 4 at the Redford Library.
E Further input on member library certification P. McCann
Concerns about non-compliance libraries may jeopardize funding for the cooperative. This also
puts pressure on shared system members.
F. Sister Library program P. McCann
McCann asked Neville to run a report showing libraries who have added the fewest items over the
last year and a report of the libraries who have added the most items over the same period. The
hope is that the larger libraries can help the less funded libraries.
New Business
A. ILS RFP member library focus groups report C. Morse
Issues that came up in the focus groups were functionality. Some member libraries have threatened
to leave the shared system if we change.
B. Sirsi webinar on SaaS (Software as a Service) T. LaPorte
La Porte was not present so no report.
C. MLA report on linked data C. Morse/P. McCann
Library of Michigan have implemented linked data on Melcat database. Individual bib records will
come back using Google searches with a link to a local public library.
D. Melcat linked data project A.Neville/C. Morse
There is a program on December 7 that explains the Melcat linked data project at the Redford
Township library. McCann is encouraging everyone to attend.
Hungerford motioned to adjourn meeting at 3:35. Seconded by Morris. Meeting adjourned (Yes 7, No 0,
Absent 2).
Respectfully submitted,
Anne Hage
