SUPPORTING THE WELFARE STATE
4
For more than 40 years, KMD has played a key role in digitizing the Danish welfare state, helping make Denmark’s public sector one of the best run, most efficient and highly digitized in the world
KMD has developed and currently operates more than 400 IT systems, that support the Danish welfare state and accompany Danes from cradle to grave
Each year KMD systems handle billions of DKK, equivalent to more than 25% of Denmark’s GDP
Key social security benefits such as family allowance, maternity/paternity pay, sickness benefit and state pensions are paid through systems developed by KMD
KMD’s enterprise management systems also handle the finances of many local governments, and each month a million of workers in the public and private sectors receive their salary through our payroll systems
Many local governments and private companies have also chosen to have KMD handle parts of their administrative burden, such as payroll and human resources

THE FUTURE IS DIGITAL
5
KMD constantly strives to create new digital innovative solutions, and KMD see it as a responsibility to contribute initiatives and solutions that support and develop Denmark’s welfare system
The public sector faces significant challenges: a smaller number of workers need to help a larger number of people, and budgets need to stretch ever further
KMD views welfare technology and digitization as an important part of the solution, simultaneously improving public services and releasing resources in the sector

APPRECIATION & RESPECT
Polish team members want to be treated as KMD team members. They do not want to be seen as „near shore” outsourcing team
They want to get the same level of tasks as Danish colleagues, equally important, equally difficult, equally contributing
Equal efforts should be put into work as well (some negative experiences already, e.g. asking for overtime around Christmas when Danish team was off)
Using the word „RESOURCES” COLLEAGUE/EMPLOYEE/DEVELOPER/
TESTER
80% of the team comes from consulting/freelance development they
want to work on cutting edge technology as they are proud and confident in their skills
KMW DNA is still being built

ON-GOING FEEDBACK IS A GOOD PRACTICE
Polish employees like feedback, negative and positive, all feedback is appreciated, as sometimes it is the only way to measure performance (we do not see results in practice in many cases)
Organize a 2:1 with the project manager and the competence manager every 2 months
Be open and straight-forward
Establish a monthly meeting with the relevant competence manager
Get feedback on your project via Mini-MTAs (Polish respondents are usually very straight-forward with their answers)
Flying over/taking time to talk is the best way to keep in touch and giving feedback from the PM/Head of Delivery/Business Line representative

Opportunities in Poland… Poland is one of the fastest growing sourcing markets globally, mainly
because of high quality, reliability and low effective price per productive hour (some of the highest productivity levels in the international IT business contra cost levels)
The rapid growth in Poland is primarily due to the high educational level (No. 1 in OECD and G20)
Today Poland is the second largest BPO/SCC market in the world Examples well-known BPO/SCC in IT in Poland:
