Last year we decided to order children's Bibles instead of lilies
for Easter. Your response was amazing and each child was
blessed with their own, age-
appropriate Bible the week after
Easter. The teachers said that the
children were so excited to have
their own special Bible and what a
blessing for us to put the love of
Jesus into their hands. We would like to make this a yearly
tradition at CTK- We will need to purchase 73 Bibles this year
at a cost of $20 each. Look
for order forms at both

Food. Family. Faith.
Look at most holidays throughout the year and there is one thing that is shared amongst them…Food. Valentine’s Day has its romantic dinners. Summer celebrations such as Independence Day and Labor Day have their hamburgers, steaks, and hot dogs. There’s the Thanksgiving turkey and big Christmas dinner. This month with Easter will see families gathering together for a special brunch or Easter dinner.
Families come together through food. Traditions are carried on year after year because of food. Conversations happen over food. Life and faith lessons are even shared because of food.
Let’s take a look back at the Passover. If you get a chance, grab your Bible and read Exodus 12. There it is again, food. Roasted lamb, bitter herbs, and unleavened bread. For that first Passover, God specified these items for practical reasons. The Israelite nation had to be ready to leave Egypt. They didn’t have time to let their bread rise or to prepare a pot of boiling water in order to make lamb stew. Nope. Just roast the lamb over the fire and quickly make a basic flatbread. Eat it while dressed ready for God to deliver them from slavery.
But it’s not just about the food. It’s about the family, too. Families were to eat together. They were to look after and care for each other. And from that first Passover, God begins a tradition that He intends to be carried out for generations. He tells the people to commemorate this day each year with a week-long festival of unleavened bread in order to remember God’s deliverance.
What I love most, though, is how God (through Moses) ends His Passover instructions with this note, “When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’ Then the people bowed down and worshiped.” (Exodus 12:25-27)
Food. Family. Faith. God has been combining these three things together for thousands of years. So this Easter, I encourage you to make plans to gather with friends and family after morning
worship. Surround yourself with food. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, but make it memorable. And make sure to open your mouth more than just to eat. Talk to each other. Retell family stories. Reflect on the victory that is Easter Sunday! Ask each other, “What does this ceremony mean to you?” Parents, take the time to share the story of your faith-journey with your children and then listen as your kids tells you what Easter means to them. Let these conversations become your family’s newest Easter tradition!
Christ is Risen, and so will we! Talk about it as a family!

Our contractor J.A. Bertsch Heating and Cooling ( thank you Joel and Kim) has done a wonderful job and have taken very good care of us. Thank you Joel and Kim for donating a portion of the cost of the project back to CTK. We are in very good hands.
Easter is right around the and this past winter has taken a heavy toll on our landscape and grounds. Lots of cleanup, trimming, raking and sprucing up to be done. Allen Lyght our maintenance man will be heading up several projects in preparation for Easter and can use all the help you can provide. Thank you.
Our Sunday morning adult bible class will continue through Easter focusing on the video documentary “The Odyssey of St Paul” following his travels and missionary journeys in Israel, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Please join us Sunday mornings @ 10 AM in Founders Hall.

Many thanks for your donations to the repair and re-placement of our heating and air conditioning system. Just to bring you up to date, since we began this project we experienced several other system failures, not directly related to the initial problem. Three other failures occurred within a week of each
other: We lost a circuit board with the furnace that heats the east corridor and conference rooms, then we lost a coil that provides heat and air to the gym, and finally (I pray finally) the twin furnaces that heat the sanctuary failed with broken heat sensors and needed to be replaced. To say the least it has been a little crazy around here. All of these have been or soon will be resolved, however these issues increase our total expense to around $95,000. Here is the impact you donations have had so far: 66 donations to date via Thrivent Choice Dollars and your direct donations totaling $45,000! Wow! More Thrivent Choice Dollars are expected to come in the first week of April, but if you have Thrivent Choice Dollars available and have not designated them yet, you have until the end of March to do so. It’s easy to do. You can do it on-line through your Thrivent account @ https://www.thrivent.com/making-a-difference/living-generously/thrivent-choice/ or call them direct @ 1-800-847-4836 and they will walk you through the process.

several in easy-accessible locations. These flipcharts cover
situations from a fire in the building, to an earthquake, or even a
bomb threat. They are easy to follow instructions on how to deal
with emergency situations safely and properly. We hope that you
will take some time to preview these well laid out plans.
