OSCILLATOR 1This is where you select the basicwaveform—the raw material you use toshape into the sound you have in mind.In addition to traditional Saw Tooth,Triangle, Square and Noise waves, theJP-8000 features new waveforms suchas “Super Saw”, “Triangle Mod”, and“Feedback OSC”.

• SUPER SAW: Equals the sonic resultof seven sawtooth waveforms usedsimultaneously. Perfect for incrediblyround, thick string voices.The DETUNEcontrol allows you to create morespacious sounds, while MIX providescontrol over the body and thicknessof the sound.

•TRIANGLE MODULATION: A richtriangle wave with a lot of energy in theovertones. Its shape can be alteredusing the OFFSET parameter toproduce even more overtones.

• FEEDBACK OSCILLATOR: Remindsyou of the type of feedback normallyassociated with electric guitars—perfectfor solo sounds! Feedback amount andharmonic level are user-definable.

• NOISE: Produces many different“colors” of noise. Continuously variablefrom Pink Noise to White Noise. Usingthe powerful RESONANCE controlfeature, anything from slight emphasisto self-oscillation (sine wave) can be set.

• SQUARE: The basic ingredient forwoodwind and typical synth sounds withadjustable pulse width and PWM depth.

• SAW TOOTH: The basic waveformneeded for nearly all instruments (exceptwoodwinds) as well as various uniquesynth sounds.The SHAPE parameterallows you to tailor the character of thesaw tooth wave to your exacting needs.

•TRIANGLE: Contains only a limitednumber of overtones and is fairlyneutral. Suitable for flute-like sounds.

Developed in the spirit of the finestvintage synthesizers, the JP-8000’sAnalog Modeling sound source onceagain puts the basic waveform at thecenter of the sound creation process.An intuitive user interface will get you upand creating within seconds, exploringnew galaxies of sound. Without realizingthat you’re working with a DSP-drivenpowerhouse, you’ll start to take advan-tage of its unprecedented possibilities.

A CREATIVE “HEART”—OSCILLATOR 1 and 2

The heart of the JP-8000 is like ananalog synthesizer. It pumps with twoVCO’s, a VCF, a VCA and a dedicatedLFO for modulation. (Analog terminologyrules!) These basic building blocks willset your sonic world on fire.

OSCILLATOR 2Oscillator 2 provides three basic wave-forms which can be combined withOscillator 1 to create ultra-fat sounds.Its pitch can be controlled within a +/-50cent and/or +/-4 octave range using theRANGE and FINE/WIDE knobs.TheSYNC function allows you to synchronizeOSC2’s waveform to that of OSC1.Thus, each time the OSC1 waveformreturns to its origin, the OSC 2 waveformis reset to its beginning, creating acomplex waveform with lots of overtones.

OSCILLATOR COMMON

You can also add Ring Modulation,a technique used to produce inharmonicovertones perfect for metallic, dissonant,bell-like sounds.The Cross Modulationfunction allows you to modify thefrequency of OSC1 using the outputof OSC2, again producing complexwaveforms.

FREQUENCY and RESONANCEsliders. As you’ve come to expect, theseguys can drive the filter all the way intoself-oscillation.

The JP-8000 provides Pitch, Filter andAmplitude envelopes with adjustableDEPTH and inverted envelopepossibilities. LFO1 has four waves andcan be routed to various parametersincluding the oscillators, the filter andthe amplitude function. LFO2 is made ofa triangle wave and can be routed to theoscillators, the filter and the amplitude.

To top it off, the JP-8000 providesvarious functions usually associatedwith vintage synths, such as ringmodulation, legato and portamentoas well as a sync function betweenOSC1 and OSC2.

Parameters are accessed directlyvia intuitively placed knobs, slidersand buttons, as well as a pitchbend/modulation lever and a ribboncontroller.The redesigned ribboncontroller allows you to controlseveral parameters simultaneously.The function of the sliders in theOSC1 section depends on the waveyou select, providing refined soundcreation in an analog-like fashion.

JP-8000 perfect for DJ-style “remix”performances. When switched on,the Arpeggiator transforms thechords you play into short musicalphrases. It provides four modes (UP,DOWN, UP&DOWN, RANDOM),dozens of beat patterns, as well asHOLD and TEMPO controls andan adjustable octave range.

The RPS function allows you to as-sign complete licks to any of the 48keys. It boasts 48 patterns, 24 ppqresolution, a loop length adjustablebetween 1-4 measures, an adjust-able gate time, and several inputquantize modes. Both the Arpeg-giator and the RPS section can besynchronized to an external MIDIclock.Perfect for those pesky modernMIDI-types and for live performance.

All you need to do isselect the envelope (destination), theMIDI channel, and the trigger note.
