PRAYER OF THE DAY Pastor: Let us pray. O God, our refuge and strength, the author of all godliness, hear the devout prayers of Your Church, especially in times of persecution, and grant that what we ask in faith we may obtain; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. People: Amen.

EPISTLE Philippians 2:17–30 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know Timothy's proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also.

I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your

Page 7: THE JOY OF MINISTRY - Hephatha

7

messenger and minister to my need, for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me.

Reader: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

WE SING TO THE LORD “Cornerstone”

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

Repeat

Chorus: Christ alone Cornerstone Weak made strong in the Saviour's love Through the storm He is Lord, Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil My anchor holds within the veil

Chorus

Page 8: THE JOY OF MINISTRY - Hephatha

8

When He shall come with trumpet sound Oh may I then in Him be found Dressed in His righteousness alone Faultless stand before the throne.

COMMUNION SONG “This Dust” (evening service) Lord have mercy on me, I am riddled with the worldʼs disease Of taking what I want And turning it into a need And turning it into a need I am flesh and blood, Never good enough You poured out your love, To cover oʼer this dust

Oh what senseless love, That you would come to join with us And drink this cursed cup, Redeeming all that weʼve undone We are flesh and blood, Never good enough You poured out your love, To cover oʼer this dust

And mercy reigns, On all our shame And washes all, The stain away

Ending (Repeat) Death is all around us, We are not afraid Written is the story, Empty is the grave Copyright 2011 Kip Fox Music
