Will the Free Internet Information (FII) replace the library? Why not?
The library’s unique human resources, especially professionals, are the main reasons why FII cannot replace the current library system.
A lot of information is not available from the free Internet.
There is a major difference on quality control.
August 17-19, 2006 18SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL
LIBRARY FORUM
Why not? More reasons: Information on free Internet is not
reliable. The print materials have some unique
features. Physical libraries provide alternative and
ideal environments for study and reading.

Taking Advantage of the Internet: Internet can deliver information
worldwide in seconds, can provide remote and convenient access to the library information, and can provide 24/7 services for reference and electronic information. It could thereby strongly enhance the traditional library’s role and function in new directions, environments and shapes.
August 17-19, 2006 21SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL
LIBRARY FORUM
The Future of Library: the hybrid library will be the main trend in
the library world. The complete digital library with the
Internet access only will coexist with hybrid library in the electronic age.
