15th Annual Stone Crab Fest – Wednesday, November 17th – Don’t Miss It!!!!!
On Wednesday, November 17, the International Propeller Club, Port of Tampa will hold its 15th Annual Stone Crab Fest at Tampa Port Authority’s Cruise Terminal 2. This year we are excited to announce that our Premier Sponsors are Gulf Marine Repair, Marine Towing of Tampa, Port Consolidated and United Ocean Services. Our venue sponsor is the Tampa Port Authority and our Chairman is Captain John Timmel, founder and CEO of the American Victory Mariners Memorial and Museum Ship. As many of you are aware, Captain Timmel is also the creator of the “famous seafood chowder” that folks have been craving all year. Along with Captain John is the volunteer crew of the Victory Ship, who with the Board of Directors of the Propeller Club and personnel from the Tampa Port Authority join together to create one spectacular event.
Each year, the Stone Crab Fest committee members pride themselves in making this event better than the year before. So, get your friends, family, co‐workers and come join us for one of the best events in the Tampa Maritime community. As this is a fundraiser for both the American Victory Mariners Memorial & Museum Ship and the Tampa Propeller Club and we urge you to sign up soon as this event has sold out in past years.
The best way to sign up is to visit our website online at www.propellerclubtamp.com and click on “buy tickets”. NOTE: You do not need to be a member nor do you need a username or password to signup. Once on the website you can also obtain a hard copy of our flyer by clicking on publications. Should you have any troubles with this process, simply send an email to Nancy Simms at [email protected] and she’ll walk you through it. Remember, you can always fill out the form and send it in with your check … but remember, you should fax our form in first to get in our headcount – should we sell out this year.
In addition to the awesome chowder and stone crabs, we will have delicious side dishes and key lime tarts for dessert. And don’t forget the “oyster bar” manned by Rusty Ferrell and his crew from Marine Electrical Service down on the docks before dinner. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available to quench your thirst, the band for this yearʹs event is the fabulous Coo Coo Ca Choo, and yes, we will have our Tug Boat Ballet this year with Emcee Brendan McLaughlin at the microphone. Brendan is the News Anchor for Tampa Bay’s ABC Channel 28 and along with Captain Timmel will introduce you to our tugs and their captains as they spin and twirl in the channel putting on a spectacular water and light show to dazzle you.
This will be a great event that you donʹt want to miss. Sign‐up now before it is sold‐out!!
Live at the Improv
On Tuesday, September 14, the Propeller Club held their annual “Live at the Improv” at the Improv Theater in Ybor City. As in year’s past, this is a tribute to our membership for their continued support in as much as we provide the “private show” and you participate with dinner. After a short
program by club President Allen Thompson, Dwayne Keith announced our upcoming events followed by Dennis Manelli who introduced our new members in the audience (see photo). Then it was on with the show, and what a show it was. Three comedians dazzled us with their routines and of course, brought some “audience” members into their “funny stuff”.

Our comedians did a fine job and we thank them for a great night. We were greeted by host emcee Tony Gaud followed by comedian Patrick Garrity then, our headliner Al Romas. 26th Annual Golf Tournament
By: Calli Skipper On Tuesday, October 5th, with a hint of fall weather, the Tampa Propeller Club hosted their 26th Annual Golf Tournament at The Eagles Golf Course in Odessa. The slight breeze, great boxed lunch (provided by Alessi
Bakeries) and well organized tournament was a joy for everyone who attended. The intense putting contest, the longest drive challenge, and “closest to the pin” contest kept the competitive juices of every player pumping. The fun and excitement was topped off with a barbeque dinner in the main dining hall followed by our awards ceremony and door prize giveaway!
This fun day of golfing and networking would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. They are: Event Sponsor ‐ Tampa Bay Steel; Admiral Sponsors – Marine Towing, Metal Masters, Mid‐State Machine & Frabrication, Mosaic, Suncoast Electric/Garcia Plumbing and United Ocean Services; Captain Sponsors: American Marine Agencies, CF Industries, Clark Environmental, (cont’d)
