A non-profit organization dedicated to preserving game fish across the world, the International Game Fish Association was founded in 2009. The association participates in fishing tournaments worldwide, providing trained observers to witness safe catch-and-release procedures. The International Game Fish Association has helped to reduce tournament rule disputes, as well as preserve billfish species by establishing release venues.

Kids Recently the International Game Fish Association was able to positively impact over 600 students in the Sunrise, Florida, area thanks in part to a grant provided by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation. Banyan Elementary School students got to experience a variety of interactive labs, such as the Sharks Lab where among other things they learned about sharks' skin and sense of smell. More than half of the families whose children attend Banyan Elementary are low income and could otherwise not afford this type of educational field trip.
