Thanksgiving Most of us consider Thanksgiving Day as an opportunity to visit with family, watch parades on television with dogs shows and football filling out the rest of the day. We eat a tra- ditional meal that includes turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie. We tend to have fond memories of this holiday. I recall wonderful visits to my Grandmother’s house where we would reconnect with extended family. My Grandmother’s specialty was her delicious homemade dressing. The aroma of the dressing baking in the cast iron skillets would travel throughout her home and bring a sense of anticipation to the feast we were about to share. Today I still smell the aroma; my mother bakes the dressing now and Rebekah is next in line to be the keeper of the Thanks- giving dressing recipe. As Christian believers, we remember that in the truest sense, each day is a thanksgiving day. We are blessed with God’s abundant love every day of our lives. The Bible guides our grat- itude: “Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23 “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks- giving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 For what are you most thankful? Join me in giving thanks for Inman United Methodist Church. Our church has a rich history of nurturing the Christian faith of children, youth, and adults. We are a congregation that enjoys deep friendships with longtime members while still showing hospitality to newcomers. It is a sign of a healthy church that many of our families are represented by two or three generations. We live out our faith as a church by sharing God’s love locally, nationally, and globally. For Thanksgiving Day 2018, will you give thanks to God for your families? No family is perfect, and no two families look the same, but each of us has been nurtured by the women and men God has placed in our lives. For some of us, Thanksgiving Day will be a reminder of loved ones we have lost. I trust that God will grant us grace in remembering these dear ones and the impact they had on our lives. Thanksgiving

Most of us consider Thanksgiving Day as an opportunity to visit with family, watch parades on television with dogs shows and football filling out the rest of the day. We eat a tra-ditional meal that includes turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie. Today I still smell the aroma; my mother bakes the dressing now and Rebekah is next in line to be the keeper of the Thanks-giving dressing recipe.

As Christian believers, we remember that in the truest sense, each day is a thanksgiving day. We are blessed with God’s abundant love every day of our lives. The Bible guides our grat-itude:

“Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23

“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks-giving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

For what are you most thankful?

May God in Christ bless you richly, Pastor Tommy

Hanging of the Greens

Many Methodist churches hold a service of preparation every Advent season for Christ's coming, which includes hanging greenery traditionally associat-ed with everlasting life. Greens such as cedar for royal-ty, fir and pine boughs for everlasting life, holly which symbolizes Jesus' death, and ivy representing the resurrection are used.

This year’s Hanging of the Greens service will be on Sunday, November 25th at 10:00 a.m.

This joint service will be the only worship service that morning.
