IT is largely aboutproblem-solving toachieve businessgoals, whetherthat’s managing(and promoting)business growth orutilizing softwareentities, cloudcomputing or thevarious tools of moderncommunicationthat technologyaffords.

But “moderncommunication” alsoapplies to facilitatinginternal communicationand processes within acompany. “It is very hardfor the top managementto manage all theresources manually,”writes Butt. So, ITresources bolster theefforts of humanresources, financial andemployee services andother tangible functionsthat keep organizationsrunning smoothly.

The emerging trends predict a future whereIT will continue weaving its way into thefabric of our increasingly plugged-in andvirtually-computing world. While those of uswho work directly with IT departments cansee these trends and changes up close andpersonal, the consumerization of IT willencourage more technologies to be widelyadopted.

The world of IT is constantlygrowing and evolving; the nextdecade will surely bring a host

of new changes, too.
