The Identifying Mark of a True Disciple of Christ

A true disciple can be defined as those who believe and is a follower of the

teaching and ministry of Jesus Christ. They are also called Saints.

(Rom. 1:7; 1Cor. 1:2)

Key scripture: St John 13: 31-35

I. The mark of a Saint must always be displayed

1. It will help in recognizing the enemies

2. It is not to be misunderstood by thing that are traditional

defined. (Cloths, statue, association, position, etc.)

II. “Love” is the absolute badge (mark) -A new commandment

vs. 35 “If” you have love one to another

III. Jesus must be our true example

John 15: 12-17

(love is not optional)

IV. How should love be displayed?

1. Paul address charity as the act of giving 1Cor. 13:1-8

2. Identified as real love (agape) brotherly love in

giving

V. Real Love will be tested. 1John 3:1,14-17

1. The source of ours love -Rom 5:5

2. God is Love –

1John 4:7-8,20-21

Love is the only true outward sign that will allow a disciple, follower, a saint

of God to correctly identified, without and
