2. Local Affairs Written submission on Consultancy Study on Smart City

Blueprint for Hong Kong was delivered to Innovation and Technology Bureau on 30 September 2017.

HKIA attended the focus group meetings regarding licensing of property management companies and professionals on 13 and 19 October 2017 respectively.

3. CPD Events CPD site visit to Skypark was held on 29 September 2017.

FSD-HKIA Technical Seminar was held to update members about various types of submissions to Fire Services Department, fire services installation compliance checking and inspection process, and application for dangerous goods licence on 7 October 2017.

The briefing on Action Plan for Enhancing Drinking Water Safety in Hong Kong was delivered by Water Supplies Department to HKIA members on 8 November 2017.

Board of Educational Affairs (BEdA) 1. Continuing

Professional Development (CPD)

Return of CPD Declaration Form 2017 As at 8 November 2017, 3938 members (91%) had submitted

their CPD Declaration Forms. CPD Checking Panel has selected 53 forms for random

checking and the selected members were asked to submit the CPD Record Forms before 30 November 2017.

Professional Interview. PA 2017 – 4th Quarter – Papers 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 Date : 20 – 23 November 2017 No. of candidates : 459 Professional Interview on 27 September 2017 Among 68 candidates (including 1 applicant via Non-Local

Architectural Professionals Admission) attended the interview, 46 candidates (68%) passed.

PA 2017 – Papers 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 – Lecture & Seminar Series and Foundation Lectures Last foundation lecture on Paper 1 Statutory Controls,

delivered by Mr. Rembert LAI, Ms. KWONG Sum Yee Anna and Mr. Arthur TONG, was organised on 21 October 2017.

Portfolio Assessment and Academic Qualifying Assessment Applicants were required to provide proof on verification of the

authenticity of their submitted portfolios as well as their English proficiency as equivalent to HKDSE English Language Level 3.

Initiatives HKIA Belt and Road Experience Sharing Session Date: 26 September 2017 Venue: Shenzhen Number of attendees: over 130 attendees, including HKIA members, representatives of mainland architectural firms, developers and contractors in Guangdong The Sharing Session aimed to provide both Hong Kong and Guangdong practices with a platform to share the experiences and challenges in projects in Belt and Road region.

1. HKIA Annual Awards 2015/16

A press conference was held on 26 October 2017 to announce the results of HKIA Annual Awards 2015/16.

Exhibition of awarded and finalist projects were held from 25 - 29 October 2017 at Pacific Place.

A total of 10 awards were given out to 10 outstanding projects designed by HKIA Members.

A public voting on “My Favourite Project” was held during the exhibition.

Public voted for their most-liked 3 projects.

2. HKIA Annual Dinner 2017

Date: 18 November 2017 Guest of Honour: The Hon Mr. Matthew CHEUNG Kin Chung,

GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government

HKIA Annual Awards 2016/17, Young Architect Award 2016 and HKIA Student Medals 2016 & 2017 were presented at the Annual Dinner.

The HKIA Singing Team established in 2017 gave their first performance at the Annual Dinner.

2 The 16th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition (VB2018)

Public Exhibition Period: 26 May to 25 November 2018 Preview Period: 24 and 25 May 2018 Venue: Campo della Tana in Venice, Italy The open call for curator was announced on 8 August 2017 and 5

proposals were received by the submission deadline on 4 September 2017.

After two rounds of interview on 14 and 20 September 2017, Professor WANG Weijen was appointed as the Chief Curator of VB2018 on 6 October 2017.

The exhibition is currently seeking funding from CSI under Create Hong Kong with a budget amounting to HK$8.6M. The approval is subject to CSI.

3 HKIA Cross-Strait

Architectural Design Symposium and Awards 2017 (CADSA)

2 Roving Exhibitions in Hong Kong or Cross-Strait Cities After the core exhibition of CADSA done in mid-August at Hong Kong

Design Institute, the first roving exhibition was confirmed to be held at ifc Main Concourse from 18- 24 January 2018. The venue of 2nd roving exhibition in January 2018 has yet to be confirmed.

A commemorative book together with an attachment of USB flash drive incorporating full version of Symposium would be produced in first quarter of 2018
