THE HIGHER TECHNICAL INSTITUTES The Italian system of Higher Education consists of University education, Higher Level Arts and Music Education (AFAM) and Higher Technical Education (ITS). To enter any tertiary-level pathway it is necessary to hold a Diploma of upper secondary education. The Higher Technical Education Diploma (ITS Diploma) is awarded at the end of a course taking a total of 1800/2000 learning hours and after passing a final assessment of competences. ITS pathways are linked to a job-related range of high technology production areas, divided in sectorial fields. ITS represent the non-academic tertiary education and training segment, meeting the enterprises’ demand of technicians who possess new and higher technological competences, and are able to promote innovation and to manage and control organization and production processes. ITS curricula are based on a set of national standard concerning: Linguistic, communication and relational skills, scientific and technological sciences, economics, organizational and managerial multi- level competences common to all the professional roles related to the higher technical education courses; technical and professional skills specific to each nationally-defined professional role of Higher Technician; Consistently with the overall learning outcomes approach, ITS pathways are divided into Units, i.e. single courses which lead to specific set of competences.

THE HIGHER TECHNICAL INSTITUTES

The Italian system of Higher Education consists

Technical Education (ITS). To enter any

COURSE OUTLINE

According to the Italian Higher Education system all courses offered by our Institute are

identified as IFTS and ITS which correspond to IV° and V° level of EQF (European

Qualification Framework). Courses offered for the 2014/2015 academic year are the following:

2-year ITS course in Polymer Technology applications

1 year IFTS course in Industrial Design

2-year ITS course in Marketing and Corporate Internationalization

1 year IFTS course in Financial administration and Accountability

1 year IFTS course in Tourism Promotion

1 year IFTS course in Telecommunication Systems

LEARNING BY DOING

How is this concept applied by Fondazione ITS:

1) 50% of our teachers come directly from the job market Bridging the gap between Education and work acquiring and building on new skills which

match the fast-changing labour market needs.

2) Thoughts in action We teach through labs, Project Works, Business case, while traditional face-to-face training is

delivered through tablet PCs in our paperless classrooms.

3) Internships take 30% – 40% of the learning path Internships offer hands-on work experience and endless possibility of knowldge application in

a realistic environment.

OUR HEADQUARTER

All our courses are held in the Benedectine Abbey of San Paolo d’Argon (Bg), a former

1079 Monastery turned into an Abbey during the XV° century.

All students have access to excellent facilities for classes, self-study and lab work. All

classrooms are WI-FI equipped and laboratories are well-equipped with modern hardware and

software, which are mostly industry standard

Our objective is full occupation for our students. The ITS slogan is very clear: “Our job

finishes when yours is begun”.

THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME

Fondazione ITS is willing to participate in

European and International cooperation projects:

to do so, Fondazione ITS has recently reached

ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education).

The aim of operating in the Erasmus+ 2014-2020

programme is to enhancing professional, social

and intercultural skills and employability of its

students. It is also considered a key element for

the professional development of its staff

(teachers, tutors and coordinators) and it will

provide the institute with an international

networks of contacts with other similar

institutions as well as other Higher Education

structures. The pilot course for participating in

Erasmus+ programme will be the 2-year ITS

course in Marketing and Corporate

Internationalization.

ITS Erasmus + application will allow student to:

Acquire knowledge on Member States

markets.

Enhance specific skills in Business English

and abilities to apply market analysis

instrument at international level.

Develop competencies for the start-up and

management of a country office/department

in a EU international enterprise.

Learning tools adopted are :

CLIL lessons (Content and Language

Integrated Learning) in entrepreneurship

and corporate internationalization.

E-learning.

Short Mobility programmes (2- 6

months).

International Internships in multi-

country-based organizations.

IELTS certification.

Linguistic and CLIL preparations and

certifications for teachers (e.g. TKT

Cambridge –English).

Fondazione ITS is willing to establish in the

framework of European and International

cooperation projects aim to foster intense,

structured and long term cooperation with

other Higher Education Institutions but also

enterprises in particular SMEs; local/regional

authorities; other education and research

institutions.
