October 21st, 2013 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Regular Meetings November 5th - 9:00 AM November 19th - 6:30 PM Meetings held at: Administration Building Community Room 140 Henry Parkway McDonough, GA 30253 Regular Commission meetings will air Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays on Henry TV Channel 14 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, at 9 a.m. & 7 p.m. The Henry County Board of Com- missioners recognized the 15th anniver- sary of Henry County’s A Friend’s House with a proclamation at the October 15, 2013 regular commis- sion meeting. A Friend’s House has been in operation in Henry County since 1998 and serves as a home for children in crisis who are in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services or have been referred by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Commissioners presented staff members with a proclamation honoring them for their outstanding work and wishing them continued success in the future. Commissioners Proclaim October As Fire Prevention Month

The Henry County Board of C o m m i s s i o n e r s recognized the month of October as Fire Prevention Month, to coincide with the national observance, issuing a proclamation at the October 15 regular commission meeting. This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Month is“Prevent Kitchen Fires!” Residents are urged to check their kitchens for fire hazards, use safe cooking practices and support the many public safety activities and efforts of Henry County’s Fire and Emergency Services. children, and then expanded to care for 24, since opening its doors, A Friend’s House has served over 1,800 children and trained more than 1,500 volunteers…the Board of Commissioners wishes A Friend’s House much continued success in the future in making a difference in the lives of children and families, and encourages all citizens to learn about and support A Friend’s House in their noble work in caring for children in our community.”

Commissioners also issued a proclamation regarding the upcoming Kindness Works Week-Pass It On, which is scheduled for the week of November 11 through 17, 2013.

Commissioners Approve Reappointment

The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved the reappointment of Carolyn Brown to the McIntosh Trail Community Service Board, for a three-year term, to expire on July 30, 2016. Brown has served on the Board since 1999 and is considered a valued member and active advocate for McIntosh Trail Community Service Board clients. Commissioners Approve Budget Amendment For SR 138 Landscaping The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment in the amount of $38,610.35 to award a bid for median landscaping on SR138, in the amount of $57,610.35.

The bid was awarded to Precision Landscape Management, who was the low bidder, and the area to be landscaped includes the SR138 median from the Henry County line to the I-75 southbound ramp.

A budget amendment in the amount of $38, 610.35 was necessary to cover landscaping and

related costs, with $15,000 of funding available from the SPLOST III Hudson Bridge Road account and the remaining $23,610.35 coming from the Hemphill Rd. account. This is a designated SPLOST III Transportation project.
