THURS MAR 9: DAY 2 – CAIRO• Arrive in Cairo early afternoon to connect with flight to Aswan.• Board the Nile Cruise for five nights. Nile Cruise (B, L, D)

FRI MAR 10:DAY 3 - CAIRO/AS-WAN

• Flight to Abu Simbel in the land of Nubia.• Visit the colossal temple of Ramses II cut into the mountain.• Explore this extraordinary site along with the smaller

temple that Ramses dedicated to his wife, Nefertari. Nile Cruise (B, L, D)

SAT MAR 11: DAY 4 – ASWAN• Visit the Nubian Museum.• Visit the Temple of Isis on Philae Island.• Explore the ancient granite quarries where workmen once

carved and left the Unfinished Obelisks.• In the afternoon, sail by felucca (sail boat) to Elephantine

Island and the Temple of the creator god, Khnum. Nile Cruise (B, L, D)

SUN MAR 12: DAY 5 – ASWAN/KOMOMBO/EDFU• In the morning, sail to Kom Ombo.• Visit the temple of Kom Ombo, built for the gods Sobek

and Horus.• Continue sailing to Edfu.• Roll through the ancient city of Edfu to the temple of Horus

and his consort Hathor on a horse buggy. This temple is dedicated to the reunion of the gods and goddesses.

• Sail past the Esna Locks and enjoy the evening on deck under a spectacular night sky.

MON MAR 13: DAY 6 – LUXOR• Reach the city of Luxor in the morning.• Explore the elaborate complex of ancient architecture at

the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Nile Cruise (B, L, D) TUES MAR 14: DAY 7 – LUXOR• Visit the West Bank.• Explore the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the

Queens where the ancient pharaohs, including King Tutankhamen and Ramses II and their wives, were buried along with their treasures.

• Lunch at the historic courtyard of the venerable Sheikh Ali Restaurant, the watering hole for the most renowned Egyptologists including Howard Carter of King Tut fame.

• Following lunch, visit the great mortuary temples of Hatshepsut, Ramses II, and Ramses III, as well as the an-cient village of Dier el Medina, with its extraordinary tombs of the ordinary workers who built the temples.

WED MAR 15: DAY 8 – CAIRO• Drive north to visit the temple of the goddess Hathor at

THURS MAR 16: DAY 9 – CAIRO• Drive to Sakkara, the necropolis of Memphis, the ancient

capital of Egypt.• View the Bent Pyramid and the Step Pyramid, the oldest

stone building in history that was built 5,000 years ago by the genius architect Imhotep.

FRI MAR 17: DAY 10 – CAIRO• Explore the monuments on Giza Plateau. • Visit the Great Pyramid, the only surviving intact monument

of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.• Visit the interior of the King and Queen’s Chamber with

a special permission granted by the Egyptian Antiquities Department.

• At sunset, take a camel ride past all the monuments on the Giza Plateau.

SAT MAR 18: DAY 11 – CAIRO• Spend the morning viewing the Egyptian Museum’s famous collection of King Tutankhamen as well as the treasures from the Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom.• Enjoy an authentic Egyptian lunch and music in the Old City.• Stroll through history up the 16th century street of the

Tentmakers, through the 10th century Fatimid city with its medieval houses, inns and marketplaces.

• Experience Al-Azhar, the oldest functioning university in the world.• Spend the evening shopping or enjoying an elaborately-

served tea in the famous Cairo Suq, Khan el-Khalili’s age-old outdoor market.

About the Tour Leader:

Fadel Gad was born in Memphis Egypt. He studied Ancient Egyptian and Islamic Art and Archaeology at Cairo University and has served as former archeologist for the Egyptian Antiquities. Fadel’s comprehensive knowledge of Ancient Egypt, along with his background in comparative religions and spiritual studies has enabled him to fill lecture halls and conduct a variety of successful international tours. Fadel frequently lectures on Egyptian mythol-ogy with its spiritual aspects in Egyptian Art, and the Ancient Egyptian concept of Gods and Goddesses. Both layman and scholars of Egyptology find Fadel Gad’s broad range of experiences engaging and inspiring.

I acknowledge and agree that it is my responsibility to make my own inquiries regarding my trip, including any relevant government travel safety warnings. PASSPORT/VISAS. I acknowledge that I must have a passport valid for six months past the expected end date of my JourneyAwake Excursion. It is also my responsibility to obtain valid entry visas for all countries where so required, prior to departure. Failure to obtain correct documentation may affect my participation in all or any portion of the JourneyAwake Excursion. VACCINATIONS. Immunization requirements vary from country to country. I am aware that the JourneyAwake Excursion offered, in addition to the usual risks inherent in international travel, has certain additional risks such as physical exertion for which I may not be prepared. I accept all of the inherent risks of the JourneyAwake Excursion, and the possibility of personal injury, permanent disability, death or property damage or loss resulting therefrom.
