HI, WEC is an organisationgrounded in a dependence onGod, as seen in the constant
prayer o WEC members. Startedas a aith-based mission, C.T.Studd and his ellow workersknew that the gospel was moreimportant than personal comort, and that prayer was a crucialunderpinning o having both adependence on God and a heart
or the lost.
To celebrate WECs rst 100 yearswed like you to join us in prayeror the nations still waiting tohear about Jesus Christ.
This book is both a prayer guideand a daily devotional, and makesno separation between the two. This book aims to encourageyou to pray or unreachedpeople around the world. Ourencouragement and our prayerscome rom our daily devotionals. As we read Genesis, Isaiah, Mark, and Philippians, we hope thatyou will be encouraged by Godsrevelation o his plan or salvationthroughout history. Encouraged inyour own aith, and encouragedto pray or others. It was beingconronted with the truth o thegospel that led C.T. Studd to start
WEC, and it is this same truth thatconronts and guides us today.
Our encouragement comes romthe truths that we read in theBible, and we want to model
our prayer the same way. Youprobably know very little aboutthe people you are praying or,and so may not know what topray. We suggest praying throughthe passages you read each day.
As we encounter God saving his
people, pray in praise to God, andpray that he would save others. As we hear o Pauls wishes thatmore would teach the Bible, praythat teachers would be raisedup to reach these people. Aswe encounter stories o Paulsaection or his ellow workers,
pray or our ellow workers, thosewho are serving, have served, and will serve. God speaks tous through his word the Bible.Lets adopt prayers that mimic hiswords, and his will.
It is our hope and prayer that youare encouraged to read your Bibledaily, that you develop great habitso digging into Gods word. Weaim or this guide to encouragethat, and or our prayers to stemout o that habit. God has revealedhis plan and his will, lets pray withthat same mind or the unreached
people that are yet to hear oGods great saving message.

Take some time to write down
some people you do know whoare either in need o Jesus or arehelping others nd him. Everyday as you pray or an unreachedpeople group you may like to turnback to pray or them. This time odedicated prayer is an opportunityto remember those we know and

Find where thesecountries are and make a note onthe map. At the end o 33 days you
can trace your world trip. A bigthanks in advance or praying!

On special holidays, paper votivesrepresenting money and gold areburned and sent to the deceasedancestors. It is their belie thatthese spirits have the ability toinfuence the lives o the living, sothey must be appeased. They live inconstant ear that an unappeased

In the last century 5 million Tatarswere uprooted, orced to leave theirown country. They mixed with theRussians. Some o them are trying
to keep their national identity, evenin the Diaspora. Others have beenassimilated in their host cultures.
In 1990 Tatarstan with its capitalKazan, became a sovereign statewithin the Russian Federation. Only2 million Tatars live in Tatarstan.
The Tatars are descendants o theBulgars in the Volga and Crimeanregions. When the Mongolianhordes came, many o them mixedwith the Volga people and so werenamed Tatars.
Tatar means mounted. They weremounted couriers, messengers. The

at school and at the market theyspeak Russian and the local language. They usually live together in Dunganvillages. Family ties are very strong. The whole amily takes part inweeding the elds and gathering thecrops. Their ceremonies and estivalsstill have a Chinese favour.
But is this all there is to lie?
For some time, interesting storieshave been circulating in their amilies. The elderly couple who came to livein their village know a lot o them.Somehow these stories have awakeneda desire to know more about thatwandering teacher in the Middle East
who said that He came to give Hislie so we can experience real lie. Butwhat would the amily, the neighbourssay?
Wouldnt they be traitors o thereligion o their ancestors?
The young man in the worship team
seemed to be engaged with body andsoul. At the end, he asked to sing asong in the Dungan language!
When you remember this song, please pray or my people, so they cannd lie!
There are about 110,000 Dungansliving in Central Asia. Only a ewhave accepted Jesus. Most o them arelonely, struggling believers, outcasts o

The ethnic groups o Mexico are largelyCatholic in name but pagan in practice. There are 260 ethnic groups in Mexicoo which 11 are without a viable
Christian witness and 104 have churchesthat still need outside help to nishpreaching the gospel in their group.
The Purepecha are a culture rich people, they existed well beore Columbus andwere never conquered by the AztecsMexica. However ater they succumbedto Spanish colonial powers their religion
became a mix o Catholicism and theirown Animistic belies.
Many traditions live on, including theJimbani Uexurhina or new yearthat is celebrated on February 1. Thecommunity lights a re called thechijpiri jimbani or new re as parto a ceremony that honours the ourelements. The Purepecha calendar or the
counting o days called Xiuhpohualli, had 18 months o 20 days a year with5 additional east days. The New Yearused to be celebrated on the day that theconstellation Orion appeared.
A riend writes:
The Western Purepechas are an ethnicpeople group high up in the Sierra
Madre mountains o Michoacan,Mexico. They are largely unreachedbecause o their erce territorialism, violent resistance to outsiders (includingother Mexicans) and to the Gospel.Even their own dierences rom onePurepecha village to another in dressand dialect oten cause euding amongthemselves. These are barriers which
impede the fow o the Gospel, evenrom one village to another.
Consequently, missionaries workingamong the unreached Purepecha villagesmust go undercover to work and liveas humanitarians, English teachers,or doctors and nurses to break downthe barriers o resistance. Once arelationship o love and acceptance isestablished, the missionary can then
share the Gospel o the Kingdom, usually still careully and discreetly. Thisis a slow process, one that requires muchpatience and prayer covering. Believerssuer great persecution rom their ownpeople.

When we came to live in the Basquecountry we discovered the Basquesare riendly people, and especially sowhen they hear you trying to speaktheir language, their Language! Itmay though be very dicult to reallyreach their hearts. They are proud otheir country, its mountains and theirlanguage. They love being Basque.
The Basques are group people, everyone belongs to a group. Theyalways come together in groups, inthe evenings get together in the townbars and squares to just chat and havea drink. Or going into the mountainsor their long walks, always together. And eating, ood and meals are veryimportant.A
Its a challenge to reach their hearts andshare the gospel with them as a group, not as single individuals, in a cultural
appropriate way. At the moment thereis no known Basque evangelical churchmeeting in Basque!
In Matthew 6:9-15 Jesus taught us topray, in plural, Our Father. That is aconcept the Basques understand, groupthinking. Lets pray that they may ndthis Father in heaven.
Deliver us rom evil... In the Basquecountry, its spiritually dark, anoppressing atmosphere, a dark cloudalways seems present. Part o this mayhave to do with the ghting going onalready or decades to end as what theysee as the oppression by the Spaniards.
For i you orgive men when they sinagainst you, your heavenly Father willalso orgive you.
Forgiveness is the key to get rid o theevil and have Gods light shine through.

Many years ago I sat down with an old man in the Ivory Coast. Peoplecalled him Le Vieux Thomas, or Old Thomas He was preparing a reto cook the meal or the evening. He remembered when missionariesrst arrived in his part o the world almost 70 years past. Heremembered what it was like beore they arrived. People were boundby spirits and lived in ear. He was thankul that Jesus made all thedierence. That knowledge o the one true God through Christ hadbrought him reedom that was unimaginable.
He then said thanks to me on behal o his people to my people orsending the message, through the missionaries. Humbled, as I had donelittle, thanked him or his words.
Now I thank you on behal o those you have prayed or. You have notprayed in vain but in aith and hope with thousands o others aroundthe world. Thank you.
