We love our building in Winchester but to juggle looking after customers, keeping the shop tidy and doing a shoot involving hundreds of plastic rabbits is a bit tricky. So for this lookbook we had a feeling for going out on location. We called every parish hall in the area and they could only squeeze us in around the toddler group, the yoga class and the antiques society (more of which later). But the beautiful Milner Hall (built 1792 as St Peter’s Chapel, the first Roman Catholic consecrated chapel since the Reformation FYI) had a three day shaped gap in their bookings and we set up camp.
Welcome to The Hambledon Parish Hall Lookbook for Autumn 14. It’s a little bit WI, a little bit tea party, a little bit village fete but we hope it’s fully lovely. And it’s all available in store and online.

The milk glass pitcher, the pressed glass sundae dishes, the cakestand, the swiss roll: it all looked really nice but maybe a little bit pale. I confess (and given our location in an erstwhile chapel feel I must confess) that we may have made use of the beautiful hydrangeas in the garden. Thank you. And sorry.

We’re always a bit in awe of Jane. She’s very lovely, and clever, and she speaks perfect Italian (as far as we can tell). Every year she goes on holiday to Tuscany where she buys Chiaverini jam in the local co -op and has it on her pane pugliese for breakfast. And because she loves the jam so much she now imports it and sells it to us.

A chance meeting at a trade fair. A very happy time of it buying beautiful scarves and accessories. And careful instruction in the art of swearing in Danish from Liz Beck, one half of the brilliant Beck Sondergaard. Tak as they say in Copenhagen.

We hadn’t expected to find useful props in the Milner Hall broom cupboard. But amongst the plastic buckets and the dried out mops Finn found signs for the Hampshire Antiques Society (est. 1967, patron Paul Atterbury, yep, the one off Antiques Roadshow), one sign pointing right, one pointing left. They know where they’re going.
