The HA2500 contains a unique frequency generatorwith two modes of operation. First you can simplyadjust the coarse and fine controls to the horizontalcircuit’s highest operating frequency for stand-aloneoperation. Or, the horizontal analyzing capabilitiesof the HA2 500 can be teamed up with a video orRGB generator. The HA2500's Est. Sync Inputenables it to produce a horizontal test signal at thesame horizontal frequency and phase as a video orRGB test signal generator. This saves time andreduces the chance of using an improper horizontaltest frequency when troubleshooting. With the video

Many monitor defects start with a dead power sup-ply or burnt or shorted components in the SMPS orhorizontal related stages. To get started trou-bleshooting means you have to replace thedamaged components or install a parts or upgradekit. Measurements confirm normal or abnormalhorizontal output stage operation and guide youto suspect stages or defects in either bipolar orMOSFET type horizontal output transistor stages.

The HA2500's Dynamic Tests “METER” providesautomatic measurements of voltages and waveformsto quickly analyze the horizontal output stage with-out complicated setup, probing multiple circuitpoints, selecting multiple test functions, or worry oftest equipment damage.

The Collector Or Drain Meter provides threeautomatic “chassis on” measurements of voltagesand waveforms produced by the horizontal outputstage at the collector or drain of the horizontaloutput transistor. These measurements include theDC voltage, the flyback pulse peak-to-peak voltage,and the flyback pulse duration or time in microsec-onds.

The BASE OR GATE Meter provides two automaticmeasurements of the drive waveform at the base orgate of the horizontal output transistor.

Horizontal output stage symptoms and componentfailures are often caused by defects in the horizon-tal drive stage. Yet, the driver stage is seldomsuspected and often when it does have a defect,scope waveforms and peak-to-peak measurementsat the base of the horizontal output transistorappear normal.

By substituting for missing or suspected badhorizontal drive, the HA2500 enables testing ofexpensive horizontal output stage components andpower supply stages. It further helps isolate weak,intermittent, erratic, or noisy horizontal drive signalproblems which cause improper horizontal outputstage operation and/or results in output transistorfailure.
