I hate to say it, but I was right (again). In the past year (as predicted) a few more restaurants bit the dust. But the insane thing that happened is, more have opened!? It seems there’s this delusional mindset in town that has some people believing that this hamlet can support more and more eateries—even though history has proven (time and time again) that once the upper limit is reached, doors start closing. And not only that, the glut of bars is hurting everyone. I mean, how many times do I have to say it, the demographics of the region prove it—that there are not enough people with high enough disposable incomes to support the existing clubs. Just ask any (sane) business owner. Anyway, that’s all I have to say. Learn it, know it, live it. —Cheers!

The 2016 Kentucky Derby picture starts to become clear in April as the 50-point prep races give way to the big 100-point ones. To refresh your memory, up through 2012, horses gained entry based on their earnings in graded stakes races. Subsequently, a new system was introduced, assigning 10, 50 and 100 points to specific races. This year, several horses have secured their spots as of press time. Barring injury and unforeseen circumstances, an East Coast-West Coast showdown is eagerly anticipated with undefeated Mohaymen taking the New York and Florida route to Louisville and the also-undefeated Nyquist coming from California.
