Embrace the fresh air and get back to nature this spring After what feels like the wettest winter on record, here at Moi-Même we’re feeling desperate for some fresh air and spring-like weather. We’re ready to shrug off the cosiness of winter, get outside and enjoy the natural world around us. There’s really nothing better than the great British countryside and we wanted to celebrate this with our latest edition, the Great Outdoors Box.

The first gift in your box is an umbrella by Sophie Allport - something we’ve been looking to feature for a while and that’s very much needed with our British weather! We’re huge fans of this homeware brand and have fallen in love with Sophie’s fun yet elegant illustrations.

To inspire you to head outside and brighten up your outdoor space we’ve included a Seedbom by Kabloom. Inspired by her love of nature and built on her degree in graphic art and design, Sophie creates and paints all of the company’s product designs from her country home in Lincolnshire. Sophie now has 30 designs, from cheetahs and elephants to coastal birds and hares, adorning over 2000 products. Sophie Allport is very much a family owned and run brand, with Sophie concentrating on the illustration and product design aspects and her brother, Jem, focusing on the business side. Sophie’s creations can be found in over 900 UK outlets with more stockists worldwide, along with her own shop near her home in Lincolnshire. She has also partnered with some great British institutions such as the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon and the National Trust.

If you follow us on Instagram you’ll know that we occasionally ask for suggestions for our future boxes over on our stories. Umbrellas have become a common theme – unsurprising given the wet winter we’ve had – and it’s something we’ve been looking to include for a while. The Great Outdoors Box seemed to be the ideal theme and, once we discovered Sophie Allport’s range of beautiful designs, we knew it was the perfect fit.

It was impossible to choose just three or four designs from Sophie’s range so we ended up including them all! We’ve tried really hard to match these to your favourite colours but, as always, you’re very welcome to exchange for a different design if we didn’t get it quite right.

Skin Alchemists is a recent discovery for us but has become a firm favourite within the Moi-Même team, and with our subscribers. So many of you raved about the Intensive Skin Treatment Candle we featured last year so we’re thrilled to be partnering with this wonderful brand again.

Skin Alchemists founder, Theresa, was born and raised on the Caribbean island of St Lucia. She comes from a family of renowned herbalists and grew up watching her Aunt Mano – an alchemist and the most established herbalist on the island – blend botanicals from her garden to create remedies and tinctures that harnessed the medicinal power of plants, helping local people to heal all sorts of ailments and skin conditions.

When Theresa moved to London she found that her skin and health soon started to suffer from fast-paced city life, air pollution and processed food. After a trip back to St Lucia where she returned to a lifestyle of fresh, organic foods, swimming in the open air and using natural ingredients in her skincare, Theresa decided to create a range of organic self-care products that could bottle these natural benefits. For our Great Outdoors Box we’ve chosen The Humble Warrior Complete Cleansing Oil, packed with plant power to cleanse your skin after a day exposed to the elements. The Humble Warrior is ‘oil pulling’ for your skin where a blend of plant extracts and large and small molecule oils work hard to remove make up and impurities and to detoxify the skin. It is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free and is blended mainly from organic and wildcrafted oils.

To use, shake the bottle and add a few pumps into your palm. Gently rub your palms together to warm the oil, bring to your nose and take a few deep breaths to inhale the calming scent. Massage into your face, neck and décolletage to stimulate circulation and deeply cleanse, then cushion your face in a warm, steamy face cloth for a few seconds. Softly sweep the cloth to remove the oil and repeat if necessary.

After, your skin will feel beautifully cleansed, thoroughly hydrated and nourished and in perfect balance. The Humble Warrior is also a great multitasker and can be used as hair and scalp therapy, a massage or body oil, cuticle oil, after sun care and beard oil. It’s housed in violet glass to preserve the potency of the ingredients and you should find that your bottle lasts a really long time (mine has been used every day and is still going after 6 months!).

We’ve loved partnering with Lisa Angel over the years and were so proud to feature them in our very first box. Our last Luxe box feature was in our Happiness Box over two years ago (remember the initial mugs?) so we’re thrilled to be able to feature them again in our Great Outdoors Box.

When choosing jewellery for the Great Outdoors Box, there was no question that we wanted to it to feature bees in some way. We’ve chosen a bangle bracelet in either silver, rose gold or gold in an open torque style that’s slightly adjustable to slip over your wrist. This bangle is made from either Sterling Silver or 18k Gold or Rose Gold plated brass with an enamel bee.

You’ll also soon be able to find matching bee jewellery in our shop, including earrings, necklaces and rings!

Kabloom is a brand built on the concept of Guerrilla Gardening: transforming neglected public spaces with plants and flowers to add colour, life and, importantly, nectar for bees, butterflies and other insects. Kabloom create Seedboms: biodegradable ‘grenades’ made from starch and natural fibres and filled with organic peat-free compost and non-GMO seeds.

The idea for Seedboms came about when founder Darren was studying 3D Design and Craft at university. He decided to focus on eco-friendly design which, at the time, was a small and underserved area with very few products available. He wanted to create something that was good for the environment and wouldn’t end up in landfill but that was also fun, innovative and appealing.

Darren recognised that many people living in cities felt a disassociation with nature and so the idea of Seedboms was born: a product that would get people outside, improve their outdoor surroundings and would help, not hinder, the natural environment.
