How Scholarships Work..

• Institutional Scholarships- scholarships given by a college because of your ACT, GPA, Leadership or special talent.

• Departmental Scholarships-usually declare a major and specific criteria. Every school has a different process and deadline.

Local Form Guidelines• We would like to keep apps at 2 pages. • Type info above the line.• Make sure you type the application.• Be sure to include your school information especially the cost. (You

can look it up on web.)

• Personal Statement can be cut and pasted in, please do not include on separate sheet of paper.

• Please list the school and community activities in designated area. Really prefer that resumes are not attached.

• Be sure to save the document so that you can go back and edit it. • Once completed turn in a clean copy to the Guidance office.• What’s next??? Process

Tips for the Scholarship Process

• Make a file folder for scholarships.• Include the following items in your folder: resume,

transcripts, 2 copies of Apps, family military papers.• Save all essay because you can tweak and reuse

them. • Writing a good scholarship essay ppt. emailed to

you. • Plan a weekly time 2nd semester to work on

scholarships.
