O nata lux de lumine, Jesu redemptor saeculi, dignare clemens supplicum laudes precesque sumere. Qui carne quondam contegi dignatus es pro perditis, nos membra confer effici tui beati corporis.

O Light born of Light, Jesus, redeemer of the world, with kindness deign to receive the praise and prayer of suppliants. You who once deigned to be clothed in flesh for the sake of the lost, grant us to be made members of your blessed body.

I was glad when they said unto me : We will go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand in thy gates : O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built as a city : that is at unity in itself. For thither the tribes go up, even the tribes of the Lord : to testify unto Israel, to give thanks unto the Name of the Lord. For there is the seat of judgement : even the seat of the house of David. O pray for the peace of Jerusalem : they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls : and plenteousness within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes : I will wish thee prosperity. Yea, because of the house of the Lord our God : I will seek to do thee good.

Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it. Love is strong as death.Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, That we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.Ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; That ye should show forth the praises of him who hath call’d you out of darkness into his marvellous light. I beseech you brethren, by the mercies of God,that you present your bodies, a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto to God, which is your reasonable service.

If ye love me, keep my commandments, and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may bide with you for ever, ev’n the spirit of truth. (John 14: 15-17)

Hide not thou thy face from us, O Lord, and cast not off thy servants in thy displeasure; (Psalm 27:9)for we confess our sins unto theeand hide not our unrighteousness. For thy mercy's sake, deliver us from all our sins. (Ps 79:9)

Hear my prayer, O Lord: and let my crying come unto thee. (Psalm 102:1)

Solo: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting. Full: And let all the people say Hallelujah, amen. Blessed be the lord, Hallelujah, amen. Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, amen. Blessed be the Lord From everlasting to everlasting. Amen, Hallelujah, Amen (Ps 107:48)

Then sing aloud to God our strength.Make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob. For Babylon the Great is fallen. Alleluia!

Let all the world in ev'ry corner sing: My God and King.

The heavens are not too high,His praise may thither flie; The earth is not too low, His praises there may grow.

Let all the world in ev'ry corner sing: My God and King.

The Church with psalms must shout, No doore can keep them out;But above all, the heartMust bear the longest part.

Let all the world in ev'ry corner sing: My God and King.

Faire is the heaven, where happy soules have placeIn full enjoyment of felicitie, Whence they doe still behold the glorious faceOf the Divine Eternall Majestie; Yet farre more faire be those bright Cherubins, Which all with golden wings are overdight, And those eternall burning Seraphins,Which from their faces dart out fiery light; Yet fairer than they both, and much more bright,Be th’ Angels and Archangels, which attendOn God’s owne Person, without rest or end. These then in faire each other farre excelling, As to the Highest they approach more neare, Yet is that Highest farre beyond all telling, Fairer than all the rest which there appear, Though all their beauties joynd together were; How then can mortall tongue hope to expresseThe image of such endlesse perfectnesse?

Edmund Spenser (1552-1599)
