Online “Check-In”
June 1st – June 17th
You asked for it, and we are delivering!
Grades K-12
Please be aware we are moving to a new “Online Check-In” process via Family Access (Skyward) for continuing students.
Beginning June 1st – June 17th parents and/or guardians will need to complete the online “check-in” process for their student, which will confirm your student’s continued enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.
You will have the opportunity to ensure that everything is up-to-date in Family Access (Skyward), you can pay: fines & fees and add money to your student’s lunch accounts.
Additionally, it will provide our schools with more accurate enrollment numbers be-fore the start of the new school year, which will provide for better planning.

our wonderful

Book-It-Forward
We are collecting used books for a Book-It-Forward event at school. It is essentially a giant book exchange. All donated books will be dis-played at school and every child will get to choose a few books to take home and keep for free. Please take a peek at your child's bookshelf and see if there are books that you are ready to part with.
Community Service Project
A huge thank you to the 3rd through 8th
graders who spent their Wednesday
recesses knitting blankets for critically ill
children and youth at Seattle Children's
Hospital as part of the Project Linus
Program.
A huge thank you as well to the adult
volunteers: Sheila Rose, Janet Alecci,
Elaine Jungst, Lorene Klamke, Kris Ship-
man, Robin Singer, Amber Mercer, Robyn

PBIS Gordon Flash Newsletter June, 2016
In reflecting on our first year of PBIS implementation, I can’t help but
smile and feel very proud. Our staff and PBIS Leadership Team did a great
job fitting former and current practices from Gordon into this new frame-
work, as well as creating new school-wide systems to fulfill the 8 key fea-
tures of PBIS. We received quite of bit of valuable professional development
in this area, and it will continue as PBIS unfolds over the expected 3-5 year
implementation timeframe.
One of the best parts of PBIS is to celebrate successes. Our traditional non
-competitive field day is one way to do this. We are in need of volunteers for
this fun-filled day . It is on Thursday, June 16th. Please email your child’s
teacher before Friday, June 10th if you are willing to volunteer. For grades K-
2 and Mrs. Maule’s class, it starts at 9:30 and ends at 11:10, so volunteers
would need to sign in at the office and arrive in the gym by 9:10. For grades 3
-5 and Mr. Wilkinson’s class it starts at 1:30 and ends at 3:10, so volunteers
would need to sign in at the office and arrive at the gym by 1:10. There will
be a big poster on the gym wall for you to sign up for a station. A new class
will come along every ten minutes.
We are already looking forward to the 2016-17 school year to refine and
improve upon what we have started. Remember, the P in PBIS stands for
POSITIVE! Have a positively delightful summer break, and we look forward
to seeing you and the super students in August.
Go Gordon Explorers!

Happy summer!
The school-year is winding down and the kids and adults are
gearing up for summer break. We have had a fun-filled spring
filled with active PE games and activities. Your kids have been
enjoying games on the field and in the gym including
capture the flag, stations, pin down, kick ball, and
parachute play.
As we head into summer I would encourage you to
have your children go outside and play as much as
possible. If you need ideas, there are many web sites that are
filled with fun and active outdoor activities that are of little or no
cost. Just Google summer activities for kids.
Thanks again for sending your kids to Gordon. I look forward to
next year! Until then,
Mr. “B”
