Hoskins, Amy Allen, Sarah Harmon, Denise Mor-
rell, Randy King, Dave McCarty

Lindsay, Plant Manager; and Stuart Weatherford,
Treasurer
Absent: Luke Saucier and Mother Boo Kay, Head of
School

seconded by Susan Ardoin, minutes approved..
Senior Warden’s Report: Tad Martin

Cameron house within the next month. This
money will be applied to repair bills.

Denise Morrell is helping Ann Lindsay with the checkbook reconciliation. McElroy, Quirk
will do the audit required by the diocese.
Discussion of funding for building repairs to cover deductible and also delays until the in-
surance claim/lawsuit is resolved. Need to amend Foundation by-laws to allow the
church to (temporarily) tap into GS Foundation funds to make initial payments to con-
tractors repairing the church. On a motion by Tad Martin, seconded by Dave McCarty,
the Vestry voted to amend the Foundation by-laws for the purpose of paying for re-
pairs necessary after hurricanes Laura and Delta, and the subsequent freeze and
flood, to allow the Vestry to remove money from the principal allowing one-time
access to these funds, leaving at least the minimum allowed to keep the account
open, and repaying the funds on a priority basis if and when the insurance is paid.
The Foundation Board membership needs to be updated to allow for a more active board.
On a motion by Tad Martin, seconded by Charles Dalgleish, the Vestry voted to amend
the Foundation Board membership to include the Senior Warden, Junior Warden,
Treasurer (now Stuart Weatherford), one at-large Vestry member (now Dave
McCarty) and one at-large member of the congregation (now David Painter) with
the Rector and Plant Manager as ex-officios.
Kyle Duplantis with First Federal Bank discussed options for temporary loans for further
construction financing if needed. We will also consult with Merchants and Farmers, JD
Bank, and First Horizon (Iberia). We may also do a fund drive among our parishioners.
Some hurricane repair donations have already been received in the amounts of $12,000,
$500, and $200. Once all financial institutions have been consulted, the Senior Warden
and Treasurer will negotiate if necessary.
Junior Warden’s and Plant Manager’s Reports: Randy King and Mason Lindsay
Repairs continue. Discussed getting a building consultant to deal with Church Mutual In-
surance. Cox, Cox, Filo are still awaiting an appraisal from Jeffrey Majors of Skyline
Adjusters. Have not yet come to an agreement with Yeah Trees over their excessive bill.
Treasurer’s Report and Stewardship Report: Stuart Weatherford and Dave McCarty
Treasurer: There will be an audit once the check reconciliation is done.
Stewardship: No new report. Hoping to get the Stewardship Campaign underway sooner
this year.
Almighty God, we ask your guidance and blessing as we seek a Rector for Good Shepherd; be pre-sent in our deliberations and make us aware of your will for us. Guide us and our parish in the days ahead. Prepare that person that you have in mind for us to receive your call. And keep us all mindful of our calling to serve your purpose and to witness to your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

service weekly on Thursday mornings at 8 a.m. (help the children put on vest-
ments, light candles, assist the priest)
Christian Education: Adults and children alike benefit
from the study of scripture. When we are COVID–
CLEAR, we would like to offer in-person classes be-
fore the 10:30 a.m. service. In the meantime, we would like for people to come
forward to record Sunday School videos for the children to watch. (We can upload
them to our Facebook page.) If it is your dream to be “on camera” please contact
the church office to help with this ministry.

Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this
world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are
the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the
hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” ~ St. Teresa of Avila.
LC Turning to FEMA for reimbursement
Mayor Nic Hunter says that the estimated cost to demolish all the homes in Lake Charles
that are damaged by Hurricanes Laura and Delta is upwards of $10 million and the city
can’t afford that kind of clean-up. Because of that, the city is turning to a FEMA-run program
that offers reimbursement for the demolition and removal of certain storm-damaged homes,
along with removing related debris from private property that meets specific guidelines.
Within the Lake Charles city limits, you may qualify for this help. In order for the debris to be
declared eligible, it must be the direct result of Hurricanes Laura or Delta and be located
within the city. HG& A (Hunt, Guillot and Associates) will assess which debris and homes are
potentially eligible to take part in the program and it will prepare an application to send to
FEMA. Eligible debris may include hazardous tree stumps, leaning trees or hanging tree
limbs, construction debris, white goods, household appliances and household hazardous
waste. Eligible homes for demolition must be in imminent danger of collapse, have been oc-
cupied before the hurricanes and damaged by the hurricanes. Residents can call or email
to take part in the program: [email protected] or 337-443-7129.
