President Ron called up today’s announcements. Linda Andrews: needs donations of children’s books. Roger Drexler: The Rotary Theatre Party is June 20th at Emidio’s home. The play is Beau Geste and the cost of the entire evening is just $50. Brett Morey: Please respond to the Evite for Promote /Demote. Ron is turning over the Club Presidency to Bev Fritschner. The cost is $25 per person. Bev Fritschner announced the Governors Dinner on June 22. Please come to support outgoing District Governor Louise.

President Ron then presented Joel Candib with his Blue Badge. Joel accepted the Badge. He then reported on the results of the Road Rally. Linda Stouffer finished in first place, Ron Kohl in second and the winner of the most coveted last place “Golden Dipstick” went to Lori Bende. Of course each of the winners could not have achieved such great achievements without their significant others as co-piolets and navigators. However, in Lori’s case, I am not sure if it was Joost or the wine???

Jacquie Reilly Introduced and installed our newest Red Badge member: Ryan Albright. Ryan was brought to the club by Brett Morey. His mentor is Erik Mjoen. Ryan has already jumped in to the Club with both feet by volunteering at our Festival.

Bill Keane introduced our speaker Jennifer Jacobus of the San Diego Employers Association. Jennifer gave an informative and sobering presentation of “H R Issues that can Cost You Big!” She spoke on leave of absence issues,

background checks, sick leave, the NLRA, mandatory hiring practices, sexual harassment policy, and pending legislation. It was a terrific presentation.

President Ron then closed the meeting with the story of

“a Nun and a Fig Leaf.”

NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE LA JOLLA GOLDEN TRIANGLERotary Club Foundation—May 29, 2015

At the regular meeting of the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club on May 29, 2014, The LaJolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club Foundation will hold its annual meeting of the Mem-bership of the Foundation. • The only item of business will be the election of directors to

replace the expiring terms of Bruce Geier and Pete Griffith, whose terms will expire as of June 30, 2015. Bruce Geier desires to continue his long tradition of service as a Director, and requests that he be reelected, but Pete Griffith will not be running for reelection.

The meeting was called to order by President Ron Kohl at 7:30. Out Rotarian of the Day was Sheila Henry. Sheila told us more about herself by

expanding on her bio in the Newsletter. She also has interests in reading newspapers and rapid transit. She loves to do Tai Chi but her real passions are with her dogs. She is not planning to retire until age 100 so we can expect to have her around for a while!

ROTDrotarian of the day

In July 2014 I made a mostly honest woman out of Sarah Saluta, when many of you joined us to celebrate our wedding. She has been the primary external variable who has made me very, very happy. Anyone smell a “honeymoon phase”? It took us

6 months to find an opening in our schedules to actually honeymoon in Panama over New Years. We stayed on an island where the TV show Naked and Afraid was filmed just after we left, though it was not based on our activities. • My little company is still a little company, but it has been growing like a magic bean stalk. We recently opened a storefront in Grossmont Center where we also keep office space. It continues to be a privilege and a pleasure to serve our clients through their ag-ing process and I am deeply grateful to those Rotarians who have entrusted me with the care of their loved ones. • I’m from Torrance, Cali-fornia, but my family is now spread out from Honolulu to San Francisco to Colorado Springs to Orlando. I spent a couple years living in China and am an alumnus of Biola University, UC Berkeley, and USD. • I would typically list several outdoor activities and sports as interests, but with this body falling apart I now stick mostly to hiking and biking. • If President Ron doesn’t prematurely cut me off, I’ll probably make a couple comments about this book: Being Mortal, by Atul Gawande.

JUNE 2015 - ROTARIAN OF THE DAY05Bev Fritschner

My oldest daughter Alyssa just turned 16. She and her sister Kira (13) are passionate about volley-ball. My son Danny (11) dabbles in sports and recently declared his ambition to be a Marine. Lastly, my daughter Clara (10) intends to be the next Jeremy Wade (documen-tarian of River Monsters). My wife Sarah is in her first year as a Vice Principal at San Diego Cooperative Charter School, where I act (as in: make it look like I know what I’m doing) as the Board Treasurer. I am also an active member in the San Diego Regional Home Care Council, the Estate Planning Council of San Diego, Vistage, and ProVisors.
