Each final Friday of the month at 8pm we have our increasingly popular DESERT ISLAND PICKS. Following the outline of the popular Radio 4 pro-gramme Desert Island Discs, we choose an interesting local character to discuss their life story and choose the tracks which define their years. Hosted by local author Jasper Fforde, we’ve had multi-award winning writer Owen Sheers, Guardian cartoonist Dix and brilliant artist Eugene Fisk among many more. Look out for this quarters exciting line up!

As a breeding ground for philosophical thought and communitysupport we also host DEATH CAFE run by Mollie Lord. Not to be confused with a grief support group, this group encourages tackling the complex ideas which surround death. It also encourages enjoying a slice of cake and a cup of tea! Monthly, beginning Tuesday 10th.

QUIZ NIGHT is the perfect night to bring a team of friends or join with others, get your thinking caps on and enjoy our food and drink! £2 entry per person, put in a pot and handed to the winner. MC’d by our very own Elle we hold this night on the first Friday of every month at 8pm.

IAI CoursesTHE GREATEST ADVENTURELOVE IN THE TIME OF TINDERApril 28th – 30thJoin us at the globe for an enlightening weekend of workshops, talks and debates. Hear from world-leading thinkers and make significant, lasting change in your life

The meaning of love is transforming. With the rise of dating apps and new technologies, connecting with others has never been easier. But whilst Tinder reached 50 million users last year, studies show that we are lonelier than ever.

Once, the study of love was deemed of vital importance, considered by Plato the greatest of all subjects. But modern philosophy has seen discourse on love fall largely by the wayside. With all this it’s easy to wonder: why does the modern world seem so hostile to love?

The Greatest Adventure brings together leading psychologists, relationship experts and matchmakers to provide an answer. Over three days you will learn:the science behind attraction, how to communicate better in love, how to be more confident and how to choose the right partner.

With complimentary welcome drinks and exclusive entertainment every night don’t miss your chance to learn from the world’s best and mingle with kindred spirits.

Art at the globe at hay

Our exhibitions are in integral part to the atmosphere of our cafe and event spaces. Artistic expression is something that we deeply value here at the globe and we are always proud to join up with local artists and showcase their work.

Our current exhibition, which will culminate in the spring, is no exception. Brought to us by Winslow Court, a SENAD group adult residential care facility in Bromyard that provides education, care and community support for the most complex, vulnerable and hard to place young people and adults, this is one of our most important art exhibitions.

One of the most important traits of the human condition is the desire to communicate and the globe at hay and Winslow Court believe art is one of the means we use to achieve this.

All work you see exhibited in the venue is designed, produced and created by resiendents and care workers at this facility.

All work is for sale and proceeds will go toward facilitatory art funding within Winslow Court itself. Running until March 2017, this is a rare opportunity to see and discover previously unveiled work.

For all artwork and sale enquiries, please email [email protected]

Support us

The globe at hay is home to The Institute of Art and Ideas, a charitable trust founded to promote free thinking, creativity and debate. We aim to engage the local community of all ages in imaginative, intellectually stimulating, creative and socially inclusive projects celebrating all forms of expression.

Why we need your support

Our mission is to deliver a vibrant programme of events, festivals, workshops and exhibitions in a welcoming and creative environment year-round. We rely on support from our local community, businesses and charitable trusts to deliver over 250 live music gigs, 200 talks and debates, 50 community events, club nights and workshops, quarterly exhibitions, a 10-day philosophy and music festival and many more performances, work-shops and events throughout the year.

Over 70% of our income is raised through our box office, café bar sales, fun-draising activities, self-catering accommodation and venue hire; we need your support to raise the remaining 30%, helping us to create a sustainable future for the globe at hay.

How you can helpYour support, at any level, is extremely valuable to us. Whether you become a Friend of the IAI, donate online, invest through your business, volunteer with us or simply sign up to our mailing list, your support will make a difference.
