June’s Program... Extended Show & Tell
By: All of the Members!
It has been awhile since the club has done an extended show & tell. I know many of you like to go into a little more depth on something you bring so here is you chance to do so. Also, some of you do not typically bring an item for show and tell. I hope that you considering bringing something to this next meeting and sharing it with us. Show and tell is not only a good opportunity for you to show off that new acquisition, but also a great opportunity for your fellow club members to learn something about the item you bring and to learn more about you as a collector. We look forward to having everyone participate in this and look forward to all of the interesting items brought to the meeting. See you there and hope you all have fun with this!

2016 Glendale Coin Club Medals...
As previously mentioned, we have again commissioned Daniel Carr to strike medals for our club. Daniel Carr is the designer of the New York and Rhode Island quarters and his company owns a surplus coin press from the Mint. He did a great job with our 2014 & 2015 medals. Medals will be struck in copper, silver and gold. Final orders and payment will be due by June 15 we expect delivery by August. The obverse will be the same as our previous medals, featuring the reverse design of the 1925 California Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar surrounded by our club name in incused lettering. The reverse designed will be based on 1894 California Midwinter Exposition Medal which was struck by the Mint and designed by Charles Barber and will be dated 2016. The design has now been finalized and is shown below.
All active club members who attend a meeting during 2016 will receive one copper medal FREE! (1 medal per person, 2 medals per family membership)
Additional medals are priced as follows:
39mm Copper Medal = $10 each
39mm Silver .999 One Ounce Medal ("ONE TROY OZ. 999 SILVER" marked on edge) = $30 each
39mm Gold .999 50 Gram Medal ("50 GRAMS 999+ GOLD" marked on edge) approx. 1.6 troy oz. gold = $2400 each (price includes ANACS certification)
Special post-strike hand-finished medals of antiqued silver OR color-toned/selective rhodium & gold plated copper = $75 each
If you are not already a member of the Numismatic Association of Southern California, I again urge you to join. Regular membership dues are $20 annually, but if you sign up through our club your first year will be at a discounted $15 rate! With your membership, you will receive a print subscription to the award winning publication, The California Numismatist, which is edited by Greg Burns. If you do not wish to receive the print subscription to TCN, the NASC offers digital memberships for only $10 per year. The NASC also does a lot of good work to help support area coin clubs, including our Glendale Coin Club. For example, through their annual gold coin drawing, our club was able to earn over $200! Please consider joining and see Michael Kittle if you would like a membership application.
