Experiences made
• Organization versus Technology
• Partners have to be on the Same Level(Technology and Thinking)
• Data has to be interoperable(Harmonization was underestimated)
• Licensing of the data has to be clear
Marine Data Infrastructure (MDI-DE)
INSPIRE Conference 2015, Lisbon Johannes Melles28 May 2015
• Licensing of the data has to be clear (its preferable when the data is free)
• Data Provision has to meet the UserRequirements (Quality instead of Quantity)
• A clear task for the Use of the Data is needed (theoretical “Use Cases“ are not sufficient)

Aim of the Marine pilot
• Obtain a common understanding of the requirements for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive & INSPIRE Directive and develop a processes which accommodates their respective needs
• Facilitate the implementation of INSPIRE requirements for the MSFD by sharing guidelines and practical experiences
• Explore links with related data management initiatives

Our expectations for the future
• INSPIRE is the Spatial Data Infrastructure of the EU
• Spatial data has only be provided as INSPIRE-Services
• INSPIRE services are used for reporting purposes
• Directives requiring spatial data are coordinated in a better way.

better way.
• Projects like the Marine Pilot are a first step in the right direction, but political decisions are needed.
