Tuesday CHEESE! Campers and counselors
looked their very best for their group
photos. At Gathering it was time to
dance with Tony. He came out and got
the entire camp up and moving as they
Whipped and Nae Naed. It was great to
see everyone having so much fun! The
Junior Mountaineers had their trip to
see the Rockland Boulders take on the
New Jersey Jackals.
Thursday Trick or Treat! Campers were thrilled to get their
costumes out and go trick or treating at camp; we loved
seeing their creativity. Campers filled their bags with toys
and treats and their smiles got wider and wider. For the
older campers there was even a Halloween House that was
set up to look like a spooky mad science laboratory, a
grave yard and a witch with a bubbly cauldron. It was
amazing!
Wednesday The Wacky Wheel spun again for the
campers in groups VA, VG5A, B1A,
B2A, G2C & B4A. Those lucky
wepresentitives won a pizza party for
their groups. Way to go! Sidewalk
Chalk day was a huge success! Each
group had a section of sidewalk and
they did such a great job creating an
interactive scene depicting their
favorite day at camp.
Summer 2016– Week 3 THE GATE HILL NEWS
Friday School spirit was all over camp as campers and counselors
sported their school colors. For the youngest campers, they
looked adorable wearing their favorite cartoon character
shirts. Wacky Zacky made a surprise appearance at
recreational swim to dance with the Pathfinders. Waka
Waka!! In League news, the Racing Red Sliders won for the
Mountaineers and Buddy’s Cubs took the trophy for the
Monday Lanyard Fever began and campers were
excited to see the spools of colorful
lanyard out! Box, barrel and cobra were
popular stitches for campers to try.
Marcia the Moose performed for the
Villagers. She sang songs, told jokes
and put on a puppet show. It was a
very a-moose-ing show! The Senior
Mountaineers loved their trip to Power-
house Studios. DJ DD put on a crazy
fun dance party .
Who Has The Mostest???
Finally we had a Monday,
After a four day week,
The monarch was so pumped,
Instead of walking, he leaped!
The campers were so excited,
To see the monarch in his gear,
They wanted to know the challenge,
And were hopping in excitement to hear!
As he looked across the land,
He remembered something a camper said,
It was something about jumping,
And then it finally came to his head!
“The challenge on this day”,
He said with a big fist pump,
“Is to see what camper here,
Has the mostest highest jump!”
Like frogs on a lilly pad,
And kangaroos in the park,
The campers were jumping so high,
The sun was almost dark
Among the sea of jumping kids,
The monarch did finally see,
Two highest jumping campers,
Ian K (B2B) and Bennett C from B1B!!
The whole camp was bouncing,
and the campers were so proud,
the cheers, claps and laughter,
were especially loud.
Now don’t you worry,
If you didn’t win this time There are 5 more Mondays, For you to be a part of this rhyme!

camp. The program provides a nine year commitment of support and
mentoring for underserved youths, and is anchored by a full summer sleep-
