Indore is the largest city in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated on the banks of the River Khan and Saraswati. The two rivulets unite at the center of the city where a small temple of Sangamnath or Indresh-war exists. The city of Indore derived its name from the deity itself. At an altitude of 553 m above sea level on the Malwa Plateau, this city is nearly the heart of the nation. With a growing population, the city is expanding rapidly and so is its tourism industry. Travel to Indore city will present a blissful blend of the past and the future.

Indore is known for its architectural splendour. The tales of the glo-rious past are narrated by these splendid historical monuments and cast a magical spell on the visitors. Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar was a great architectural patron and spent a lot of money on the construction of many temples across the nation. She is still held in high regard and as a tribute; her statue was built in the center of the city, near Rajwada. Apart from being a historical city, Indore is also the commercial capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

“India is a factory of spiritual power. This power can change the world.” - Anil Bhandari, CMD, Unicorn Boilers(India) PVT. Ltd.

Eminent leaders from Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh joined delegates from as far away as Chile andAustralia at the Fortune Landmark Hotel in Indore for a one-day ‘conversation’ about power on Sunday, 3October 2010. This elite group of thinkers, opinion makers and action setters from fields including media, business, education, health, the arts, sciences, sports and social welfare met in a spirit of inquiry as part ofthe ‘Future of Power’ series of dialogues organized by the Brahma Kumaris. Hosted by Dadi Janki, the 94-

year-old Chief of the Brahma Kumaris and Nizar Juma, 65, a Nairobi-based businessman and industrialist, the dialogue successfully provided participants with an opportunity to take time out and reflect on the deeper

meaning of power in their lives.Caroline Ward, an Australian living in Latin America, gently guided the 34 participants into an exploration of

their personal understanding of power and through a process of appreciative inquiry, enabling them to identifyand share ways of using power positively despite the increasing challenges and pressures of an everchanging

and deteriorating world environment.“Give without expecting. Real power comes from giving and not taking. It comes from within”- Akanksha

Rathi, Director, Rathi Iron And Steel Industries Limited (RISIL).In his opening remarks, Nizar Juma said that India’s legendary intellectual, economic and spiritual resourcesflowed outward across the globe for more than 2,000 years, supporting and sustaining a succession of foreign

civilizations and cultures. Beneficiaries included China to the East then Egypt, Greece, Rome and northernEurope including Great Britain to the West, until power reached the Americas and became concentrated in

the United States.

The recent economic and financial meltdown, he argued, indicates a turning point in which a historic reversalis under way: power is now flowing back to India. He added that between nations, power has tended to beadministered in a coercive way, resulting in chaos. In earlier times, rulers - including those in India - were

mostly benevolent and their power was tempered by a great deal of spiritual understanding, so that their rulewas elevated. India now has to awaken her spiritual heritage, he argued, if she is to avoid the fate of the

West, and show the world a better way forward.During the dialogue process, many insightful questions emerged from the group, provoking stimulating

conversation.Dadi Janki was direct in her comments to the group, inspiring and motivating them to a higher level of spiritual

expression. She underlined that for leaders to use power positively, they need to know themselves first. The humility and honesty of participants during the feedback sessions created a deeply moving and a positiveatmosphere leaving everyone with a renewed sense of purpose, refreshed and inspired to introduce elevated

action in their everyday life.
