Britain (England) & Taxes

• England decides to raises taxes on the colonies to pay for the war.

• The colonies did not respond well to this idea.

• They want representation in Parliament if they are going to be taxed by the government.

• Minutemen Minutemen – Local militia that got their nickname because they could be ready to fight at a minute’s notice.

This battle took place on Breed’s Hill. The British took this hill. However, it was extremely costly for them.

This battle for the Continental Army and the Patriots was an important moral victory.
