The French and Indian War

• This was a war between England and the French over the control of North America.

• This war is fought over the course of seven years.

• England will win this war. France lost almost everything except Canada.

• Minutemen Minutemen – Local militia that got their nickname because they could be ready to fight at a minute’s notice.

No turning back!!

• While the British marched back to Boston the colonists shot at them from the woods and killed as many as a 100 soldiers.

The Second Continental Congress

• This time the congress prepared for war and peace.

• They authorized the creation of the Continental ArmyContinental Army.

This battle took place on Breed’s Hill. The British took this hill. However, it was extremely costly for them.

This battle for the Continental Army and the Patriots was an important moral victory.
