Prayers for the World Church On this anniversary of South Sudan's independence, let us pray for the work of Tearfund in that country. Despite signing a peace treaty in August 2015, manmade conflict has forced one in five people to flee their homes. A third of schools have closed, and one in three people are suffering from food shortages. Let us pray for all peacemakers in that country and for an end to the conflict, and a return to ordered lives.

Psalm 45:10-17

Choir: The peoples shall praise you for ever. All: The peoples shall praise you for ever. Choir: Hear, O daughter; consider an incline your ear; forget your own people and your father’s house. So shall the king have pleasure in your beauty; he is your lord, so do him honour. All: The peoples shall praise you for ever. Choir: The people of Tyre shall bring you gifts; the richest of people shall seek your favour. The king’s daughter is all glorious within; her clothing is embroidered cloth of gold. All: The peoples shall praise you for ever. Choir: She shall be brought to the king in raiment of needlework; after her virgins that are her companions. With joy and gladness shall they be brought and enter into the palace of the king. All: The peoples shall praise you for ever. Choir: “Instead of your fathers you shall have sons, whom you shall make princes over all the land. I will make your name to be remembered through all generations; therefore shall the peoples praise you for ever and ever.” All: The peoples shall praise you for ever.

For very young churchgoers: Please feel free to be in church during the services, but if you feel very distressed the choir vestry (at the back of church) also doubles as the "early years gurgling room". In there you will find a cabinet of toys. The room has glass doors so that you and your parents can see and hear services, but it also has an environment where you can feel at ease to be yourself and gurgle away.
