ACC Concerns

Outstanding HOA Dues If you still owe for your 2020 HOA dues be advised that a $25.00 a month late fee is being added to your account. This was a charge that was due in January and statements have been mailed out each month to keep you informed. If you would like to discuss a payment plan, the next HOA meeting is August 10th, 2020 at 7:00 pm at the clubhouse or you may call the office and leave name, address, and phone number and your call will be returned the next day. Our phone number is 281.893.4820. Clean the street curb in front of your house. Keeping trash out of storm drain will help prevent your street from flooding.

Trash cans are to be out of sight and put out either the evening before pick up day or the day of it. After pick up trash cans need to be moved out of sight again.

Safety Please park in your driveways. Children at play and people walking on the street present a safety concern.

THE ACC COMMITTEE

We thank those residents who are doing a good job caring for their yards by mowing, edging, trimming bushes & trees and keeping curbs clean from grass clipping and trash. There are still some who lack this basic tenant of home ownership – taking care of your property. Those who make an effort to maintain their yards (or have it done) are not amused & rightfully so, when they have to look at a yard next door or down the block that is unkempt. If your mailbox needs repairing please do so. Please honor our Deed Restrictions.

Loud Music in our Subdivision

Refer to your guidelines, which are online and in the green Fountainhed Architectural Control Guideline booklet.

Speakers are not allowed outside code 3.84. If there is an issue with loud music after 12am please call the constable at

281.376.3472.

ANY IMPROVEMENT TO YOUR HOUSE/PROPERTY NEEDS TO BE APPROVED BY THE HOA BOARD.

PLEASE REFER TO THE ACC GUIDELINES, which you can find either on the fountainheadrandm.com website or in your Fountainhead ACC green booklet.

COMMUNITY CENTER PARKING

Parking space at the Clubhouse, Tennis and Pool area is reserved for activities at the Community Center

ONLY. Parking of vehicles for other purposes is strictly prohibited. Driveways at residences are to be used for

Goodbye Dear Carol

Carol Lynne Vowell left our world on Sunday morning, July 5, 2020, after her struggle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her husband, Rob, and sons Nicolas (Magnolia, TX) and Adam (Parker, CO). Originally from upper state New York, Carol settled in Fountainhead in 1975 when the subdivision was still developing. Being a creative thinker with an engaging personality, Carol served as an early President of the Fountainhead R&M Corp where her accomplishments included acquiring ownership of the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts from the developer. As a young Mother of two, she focused on the care of her family. Additionally, her degree in education brought her recognition as a “best ever” elementary school teacher and camp counselor. In later years, her creative talents were on display as an artist while teaching the “One-Stroke” painting technic to adult students at Lone Star College. Carol loved life and wanted to share it with everyone. She may be gone… but she will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her.

• Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing • Wear sunscreen. Sunburn affects your body’s ability to cool down

and can make you dehydrated. Look for sunscreens that say “broad spectrum” or “UVA/UVB protection” on their labels- these products work best.

• Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible • Do not rely on a fan as your primary cooling device during an extrem

e heat event • Drink plenty of water and don’t wait until you’re thirsty • Check on a friend or neighbor who may need assistance • Know the signs of heat-related emergencies and call 9-1-1:

o Muscle Cramps o Headaches o Nausea o Vomiting

Never leave infants, children, or pets in a parked car.

No matter where we live in this ever-shrinking world, almost everyone seems to be affected by

coronavirus (COVID-19). As the days progress, the number of people impacted is increasing at

an alarming rate with entire cities under quarantine.

We pray to God that you and yours stay safe and healthy, and that the entire world be granted

complete and speedy healing.

History of August

August is the eighth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar and its predecessor, the Julian

calendar. The month of August was originally named Sextilis in Latin since it was the sixth month in

the ancient Roman calendar. The name of the month was

changed to August in honor of Augustus Caesar in 8 BCE.

History of August

In earlier versions of the Roman calendar, August was called

Sextilis, the sixth month. It consisted of 31 days. It later became the eighth month with a length of 29

days when January and February were added to the year. Julius Caesar added two days to the

month around 45 BCE. It was later renamed to honor Augustus Caesar in 8 BCE.

Eighth Month in the Year

August is the eighth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendar and is 31 days long. It is

considered the busiest time for tourism because it falls in the main school summer holiday period. It is

the seasonal equivalent of February in the opposite hemisphere.

August does not start on the same day of the week as any other month in the year in common years,

but ends on the same day of the week as November every year. During leap years, August starts on

the same day as February and still ends on same day as November.

Birth Flower and Stone

Its birth flower is the gladiolus or poppy which represents beauty, strength, love, marriage and family.

The birthstone for August is the peridot or onyx.

Skillet Taco Pizza

• Level: Easy • Total: 50 min • Active: 35 min • Yield: 4 to 8 servings

Ingredients 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough, at room temperature All-purpose flour, for dusting 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 2 cloves garlic, sliced 1 15-ounce can crushed fire-roasted tomatoes 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper 8 ounces ground beef 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces) 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (about 4 ounces)

Shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped avocado and pico de gallo, for topping

Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 525˚ (or the highest temperature available). Press and stretch the pizza dough into a 12-

to 13-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Lightly dust the top with flour and cover with a clean kitchen towel.

2. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes and oregano. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer and cook until thickened and reduced to about 1 cup, 10 to 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Meanwhile, heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat and add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add the beef and season with a large pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper. Cook, breaking up the beef with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, 4 to 5 minutes. Add the chili powder, cumin and garlic powder and cook, stirring, until combined, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer the beef mixture to a small bowl with a slotted spoon.

4. Heat a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly sprinkle the skillet with flour and immediately add the pizza dough, stretching it as needed to completely cover the bottom of the skillet. Cook until the dough starts to puff slightly, about 2 minutes. Spoon the tomato sauce mixture all over the dough and spoon the beef mixture on top. Sprinkle with the cheddar, top with the red onion, then sprinkle with the mozzarella. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the crust is browned around the edges, 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool slightly.

5. Run a small spatula around the edges of the pizza to loosen. Top with lettuce, avocado and pico de gallo. Cut into wedges.
