Animals
This week we continued the topic of animals.
The children continued adding the animals to
the world map, as well as creating silhouette
drawings of the African plain as seen in our
new story about Kapiti.
Literacy
This week in Literacy, we
read the book Bringing the
Rain to Kapiti Plain, a
beautifully illustrated book capturing the
essence of the African plains. We discussed
what a savannah is and what is unique
about the habitat of the savannah. The
children were then able to research a sa-
vannah animal in order to complete the
next page of their zigzag animal fact
books.
In Phonics, we learnt the sounds y and z
and the new Alphabet Song. We also
practiced reading the tricky high
frequency words no, go, the, and, to and I.
Please continue to revise the words and
sounds in the blue Phonics book.
In Maths this week,
the children learnt about the properties of 3-D
shapes, as well as looking at time as a
measurement. We have also been practicing
the days of the week, months of the year and
the four seasons.
Notices Please send in a spare set of winter clothes
for your child.
A reminder that
fruit circle is still
taking place in
classes every
week, so please
continue to send
fruit in to school
with your child on
Sundays.
